Gov. Adeleke slams Oyebamiji’s Economic Blueprint, says It seeks to reverse current gains, impoverishes Osun people

GOVERNOR Ademola Adeleke has condemned the recently released economic blueprint of the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Muniru Bola Oyebamiji, describing it as “capital flight oriented, old school thinking and behind news of current socio-economic advances under Gov.  Ademola Adeleke.

In a statement issued in Osogbo, Governor Adeleke noted that a review of Oyebamiji’s economic plans confirms that his ideas are outdated, in conflict with progressive ideals he professes and a condemnable attempt to reverse the economic boom currently being enjoyed by Osun people, declaring that “Mr Oyebamiji by his own admission seeks to return Osun to the old era of capital flight to Lagos and suppressive tax regime to reimpose extreme poverty on Osun people.

“The Adeleke’s economic blueprint is focused on local content for citizens’ empowerment, grassroots and artisans’ financial inclusion, bridging infra deficit to fast track economic growth, widening tax base with reduced tax rates, integrated easing of business environment to attract investment, agro-industrialisation through revived economic and free trade zones, mining sector reforms to diversify state economy among others.

The current plan is people–based m in conception and people–focussed in implementation.

“The Adeleke economic plan currently being implemented has empowered grassroots economy through artisan and cooperative financing of almost N4 billion; enhanced local businesses through strict implementation of the local content policy in procurement and workforce management; reinvigorated Osun Digital Economy hub to tap into multi-billion dollar global industry; increased Internally generated revenue through tax harmonization and digitisation; relaunched industrialisation through revival of Osun free trade zones; reduced state debt stock through sustainable debt management; revived agro – mechanisation and cocoa revolution; re – engineered partnership for growth with Osun businesses through Osun State Chamber of Commerce; and deepen investment drive through strong public private partnership among others.

“Mr Oyebamiji’s plan is imbecilic and deficient in depth and orientation. It regurgitated and copied policies already under implementation by the current government in the area of tax reforms, industrialisation, revenue digitisation and management, innovative investment drive, public private partnership, agro – industrial revolution. The AMBO plan is a recipe for economic retrogression, disempowerment of the local economy through abandonment of vital local content policy, reversal of current policy of Osun money serving Osun economy and residents.

“Osun economy is already on a sustainable growth trajectory. Power generation, transmission and distribution is critical to economic growth and development. Governor Adeleke has already signed into law the state electricity bill to regulate generation and distribution of electricity. An implementation process is underway. Mr Oyebamiji has no clue in such an arena. The digital economy is a global multi- billion dollar industry. Governor Adeleke has primed Osun as a digital hub to tap into the sector through a series of ICT and digital legislation now under implementation. Again, Oyebamiji is oblivious of this new global trend.

“It is particularly shocking and insulting to Osun people to read of the fresh intention by Oyebamiji to tie Osun economy to Lagos through capital flight of the old. While South West inter-state collaboration under Oodua framework is already ongoing, the idea of Lagos corridor from Oyebamiji is a direct intention to kill Osun local content policy, destroy the drive to grow Osun economy on a sustainable agro-industrial platform and put an end to the successful push to grow Osun prosperity through digital economy.

“The height of deficiency in the AMBO plan is the ludicrous mention of the blue economy strategy. We assert that as the head of the national waterway agency, Oyebamiji failed to stop waterway deaths which stood at almost 1000 by the time he left office. He failed to introduce or implement a modern waterways transport system despite an abundance of functioning systems that can be adapted. The Lagos Waterways Authority has an impressive record than what we had under AMBO leadership of NIWA.

“It is apt to note that under Governor Adeleke, the Owala Lake beach resort is functioning under PPP arrangements after decades of abandonment by governments under which Oyebamiji was a key player. Similar internal lakes at Modakeke and others are being projected for similar revival while key tourist sites are witnessing upgrades and modernisation under PPP model. Osun does not need sordid records at NIWA in Osun state.

“Like that popular song, Osun can never go back; Osun has gone too far in economic liberation, prosperity and sustainability; It is already too late for Osun to retrogress; it won’t make sense for Osun to go back to the era of corporate slavery enforced by some corporate hawks masquerading as people – loving politicians”, the statement added.

Oyetola Cannot Win Osun Election by Punishing the People of Osun State, and History Will Remember the Illegality

    By. Pelumi Olajengbesi Esq.

There are moments in politics when a people must pause and ask a simple question. Are we still in a democracy, or are we drifting into the rule of force? Osun is standing at that junction today, and the signs are not comforting.

What is playing out around local government administration in Osun is not ordinary political rivalry. It is a civic crisis dressed in partisan clothing. Tenure has a meaning in a democracy. It is time-bound, it is regulated, and it is not extended by audacity. When the lawful window closes, authority closes with it. Anything after that becomes an argument against the idea of elections itself. It becomes a suggestion that votes and courts do not matter, only access to coercive power.

Yet, across Osun, local government secretariats have become contested territory, not administrative centres. People who insist they still hold office have remained within the premises under police cover, despite a legal and procedural atmosphere that points in the opposite direction. Workers who should be doing the daily work of government have been scared away, harassed, or intimidated. When civil servants are afraid to report to duty, that is no longer politics. That is occupation. And the message it sends to ordinary citizens is even more dangerous: that the law is negotiable once you have force behind you.

Local government is the closest layer of governance to the people. When it is captured or paralysed, it is not politicians who suffer first. It is teachers in public primary schools. It is health workers in primary health centres. It is local government staff and retirees who depend on a system that should not be dragged into warfare. When council activity is disrupted and the flow of resources becomes contested, the people carry the burden through delayed salaries, weakened services, and stalled community needs. In plain language, the grassroots bleeds first while politicians posture.

That is why my title writes itself this afternoon. Oyetola cannot win Osun by punishing Osun. Hardship is not a campaign plan. Siege is not mobilisation. The idea that you can squeeze a people into submission is not strategy; it is a misreading of Osun. Council secretariats do not vote. Bank accounts do not vote. Police barricades do not vote. People vote. And Osun has never been the kind of state that rewards anyone who approaches it with contempt for law and contempt for welfare.

More importantly, this approach drags federal institutions into local quarrels and risks making them look partisan. That is always a costly mistake, because institutions may be powerful today, but history is longer than power. In a democracy, security agencies must protect peace, not protect illegality. They must guard the public interest, not guard political desperation. Once institutions are perceived as tools, public confidence collapses. And when public confidence collapses, society becomes unstable. Nobody wins that game.

If anyone truly seeks power in Osun, the road remains the same road democracy provided: persuasion, structure, credible campaigning, and the ballot. Any other route may create noise, but it will also create anger. And anger, in Osun politics, has a memory.

Adeleke Demands Immediate Release of ₦130bn LG Fund, Decries Illegal Siege on Osun Council Secretariats

… Accuses the Police of receiving Illegal Orders from Oyetola

    By Iyiola Olalere

Governor of Osun State, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, has demanded the immediate release of over ₦130 billion in statutory allocations allegedly withheld from the state’s local governments, warning that the continued blockade is crippling grassroots governance and inflicting hardship on workers and residents.

In a statewide broadcast on Monday on the illegal occupation of local government secretariats and the defence of democratic order, Adeleke said court-sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) chairmen and councillors had unlawfully occupied council offices across the state for nearly a year, despite judgments of the Federal High Court, Osogbo, in November 2022 and affirmations by the Court of Appeal in February and June 2025 nullifying their elections.

This was disclosed in a statement by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor.

“The court removed them, not my administration,” the governor said, stressing that fresh local government elections were conducted in compliance with subsisting court orders, leading to the swearing-in of duly elected chairmen and councillors on February 23, 2025. He described the current occupants of the secretariats as imposters acting without any lawful mandate.

Adeleke accused the former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, of allegedly backing the continued occupation with police support, an action he said undermines democracy and the rule of law.

He further alleged that local government workers who attempted to resume duty were harassed and intimidated by armed police officers and political thugs.

Central to the governor’s address was the withholding of local government funds. Adeleke disclosed that since February 2025, statutory allocations due to Osun local governments, now totalling about ₦130 billion, have not been released to the legal accounts of the councils.

He said the funds are critical for the payment of salaries of primary school teachers, nurses, health workers in 332 primary health care centres, council workers, traditional councils, and retirees.

According to him, the state government has had to look for funds and make painful sacrifices to keep salaries paid for almost 12 months, a situation he described as unsustainable.

“Governance is about humanity, responsibility, and compassion, but this burden cannot continue indefinitely,” he said.

The governor also accused the United Bank for Africa (UBA) of allegedly allowing unauthorized persons to operate local government accounts, adding that senior bank officials involved are already facing criminal prosecution. He questioned whether such actions would be tolerated in jurisdictions like New York or London, where the bank operates.

Calling for federal intervention, Adeleke appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure the release of the withheld funds and to protect democratic institutions.

He insisted that the President was not involved in the alleged illegality and urged him to rescue Osun local governments from what he described as an unlawful siege.

“There is no provision in our Constitution for tenure elongation,” Adeleke said, framing the crisis as a choice between constitutional order and naked impunity.

He called on Nigerians and democracy advocates to demand an immediate end to the occupation of local government secretariats and the release of council funds.

The governor urged residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding, assuring them of his administration’s commitment to upholding the Constitution and safeguarding their welfar

The Executive Governor of Osun State, Sen. Ademola Adeleke has reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to protect public health and eliminate counterfeit and substandard products across the state.

Speaking at the Government House, Oke-fia, Osogbo, while receiving the State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Osun State Chapter, and members of the management team, the Governor congratulated the new coordinator on the appointment and described the visit as timely.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between federal agencies and state governments, a statement by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the Osun State Governor disclosed.

The Governor noted that the activities of NAFDAC remain critical to public health, consumer protection and economic stability, particularly in addressing the growing menace of fake drugs, substandard food items and unregulated consumables that pose serious risks to lives and undermine confidence in the healthcare system.

Commending NAFDAC’s ongoing efforts in enforcement, regulation and public sensitisation, the Governor emphasised that effective regulation cannot be achieved in isolation, but through strong cooperation, intelligence sharing and engagement with security agencies and local communities.

Assuring NAFDAC of full support, Governor Adeleke said Osun State would continue to partner with the agency to strengthen enforcement, improve public awareness and ensure compliance with regulatory standards in markets and healthcare facilities across the state.

On NAFDAC’s request for inclusion in the State Security Council, the Governor acknowledged the relevance of regulatory agencies to broader security and public safety concerns, noting that the request would be carefully examined within the existing framework to enhance coordination and effectiveness.

Governor Adeleke further urged NAFDAC to intensify engagement with traders, manufacturers and residents, while calling on members of the public to act as whistleblowers by promptly reporting any outlet involved in the sale of fake drugs, stressing that the agency must carry out its duties diligently and transparently without compromise or inducement, in order to rid Osun State of fake drug dealers and safeguard lives.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mr Stephen Aina, appreciated the state governor for its support and partnership with NAFDAC.

He explained that NAFDAC remains committed to ensuring that people consume only standard and safe products, including drugs and other regulated items, while also commending the state for the prevailing atmosphere of peace that has aided the agency’s activities.

Mr Aina further disclosed that the agency has been engaging in outreach programmes to educate and encourage young people to embrace entrepreneurship, advising them to always register their businesses as required by law.

He, however, appealed to the government to further support the agency through the provision of logistics such as operational vehicles, staff quarters, and other essential needs to improve efficiency.

Osun 2026: PDP shuns own candidate, adopts Accord Party’s Adeleke

    By : Timothy Agboh

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Sunday Bisi, has declared that the party’s entire structure would support and work for the second term emergence of Governor Ademola Adeleke.

It would be recalled that Adeleke left the PDP and joined the Accord Party (AP) recently, where he clinched the party’s ticket for the August 8, 2026, governorship election.

Bisi, in an interview with The Guardian in Osogbo, said he would not be joining Adeleke in the Accord Party, but noted that the governor had been endorsed ahead of the election.

“I have not decamped to any political party. I remain the PDP Chairman in Osun State and my tenure subsists till 2027. However, the entire structure of the PDP in Osun is behind Governor Ademola Adeleke. We have already endorsed him for a second term and we will ensure that happens. He will win convincingly,” he said.

Bisi, who feigned ignorance of the existence of the PDP’s governorship candidate, Adebayo Adedamola (FRYO), insisted that the party would go all out to ensure the victory of Adeleke under the platform of the Accord Party. He, however, dismissed the fear, saying there was already a precedent.

“There is nothing like anti-party in us (PDP) supporting Adeleke for a second term. It is not new. When the party endorsed President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress for a second term, there was nothing like anti-party.

“There was a time the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) supported APC; there was no accusation of anti-party activity. So, there is a precedent and that has come to stay in Nigerian politics. So, we are not doing anything new,” he said.

    By Biola Lawal
Oshogbo (FLOWERBUDNEWS)  Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC)
is deeply Unpopular in Osun State and would be roundly defeated by him in next year’s gubernatorial election.

Gov. Adeleke, who was reacting to statements credited to Mr Gboyega Oyetola at the APC guber Primary on Saturday, reaffirmed the full determination of Osun people to defeat the All Progressives Congress(APC) in the 2026 polls, declaring unequivocally “I will beat Oyebamiji by the might of God and people”

The governor described the minister’s hope for victory as “wishful thinking, illusory grandstanding and a failure to accept the deep level of unpopularity of APC among the people of Osun state”, a statement by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Spokesperson to the State Governor, disclosed.

Calling Oyetola regime an anti-people era in Osun history, Governor Adeleke lamented the run down state of affairs when he took over the state in 2022, tagging Oyetola reign “a dark page in Osun socio-political history, a period neither labour nor any segment of our population want re-enacted”

The governor who boasted of a mass movement behind his re- election bid mocked the minister and the APC for embarking on anti-democratic activities instead of marketing themselves to the people and potential voters.

“If you are sure you have the votes of the people, why are you deploying anti-democratic means to stop the unstoppable will of our people? It is shameful and reprehensible that those who claim to be popular are dead scared to face the people in a free and fair election.

Governor Adeleke, speaking on Sunday through his Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, described the claim as “a clear misreading of the political reality in Osun State, the people of the State are fully satisfied with the people-oriented and responsive governance being delivered by the present administration.

“Osun citizens are enjoying a government that prioritises workers’ welfare, infrastructural renewal, healthcare delivery, education, and inclusive development, and therefore have no desire to return to the era of hardship, neglect, and anti-people policies associated with the APC’s 12-year rule in the State.”

    governor ademola adeleke

“You and your proxy, now the APC’s governorship candidate, were central figures in the mismanagement that plunged Osun State into economic distress, characterised by half salaries, mounting debts, and poor service delivery to the people. Osun will not go back to the dark days”, the governor was quoted as saying.

Governor Adeleke emphasised that his administration is currently reversing those damages and restoring dignity to governance in the State as attested to by several awards and recognition including the newest one, the winner of Primary health care leadership challenge for South West.

He further asserted that the impressive performance of his administration across all critical sectors has earned the trust and confidence of the people, who are determined to defend the gains of good governance at the polls.

“As the August 8, 2026 gubernatorial election approaches, Osun people are fully aware that a vote for the APC and its candidate is a vote for a return to the failures of the past. Such a regression is one the people of Osun are not prepared to entertain,” the Governor stated.

Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to sustained delivery of democratic dividends and urged Osun citizens to disregard political propaganda, assuring them of continued focus on people-centred development.

Adeleke Showcase Popularity, Credibility as Residents Swarm His Convoy after Primary Win

Residents of Osogbo today swarmed the convoy of Governor Ademola Adeleke today as he drove round major streets of Osogbo after he won the governorship ticket of Accord ahead of the 2026 guber race.

The unannounced show of street credibility around the capital city was ordered by the governor immediately after he was declared winner of the Accord primary.

The National leaders of the Accord were also part of the procession while three of them dropped to march on foot with the mass of the crowd

The governor who drove from Stadium area down to Igboona, Okefia down to Government House was stopped intermittently by students, shop owners and artisans.

Shout of Accord, tesojue; Ibo, ibo; imole lekansi” rented the air at every point.

From Igbomna to Orisunmibare, it was a carnival-like scenario as residents practically trekked alongside the governor’s convoy.

Accord caps and flags were snatched from the convoy. Almost a thousand caps were collected from the convoy.

At Igboona, the chair of the artisans group crossed the road, stopping the governor with artisans and technicians hailing the Accord Party.

From Orisunmibare to Olaiya, the convoy was at a snail speed with residents singing in praise of the Adeleke family and Accord Party

At Freedom Square, market people abandoned their wares and joined the chorus of Accord, Accord, Accord.

From Orisunmibare to Olaiya took almost 30 minutes as the street was filled with jubilating residents.

The shout of “ where you go we go” rented the air.

Big business leaders stormed the streets intermittently, screaming votes, votes, votes

By the time the convoy reached under the Olaiya Bridge, heading to Alekuwodo, the singing of “Ademola min gboro titi” was everywhere.

The market women at Alekuwodo stormed the convoy holding the governor down for several meetings and shouting Imole , Imole , imole

The Iyaloja for Alekuwodo personally led hundreds of her members to pray for the Governor.

At the Oke fia bridge, Accord flags adorned the whole area with more residents joining the procession.
