Ijebu Ife (Ogun State):  The Convener of OMOLUABI for YAYI (OFY) advocacy team, Professor Abdulwahid Ajibola-OMOLUABI has enjoined YAYI supporters to register massively in the ongoing INEC continuous voters registration by INEC.

FLOWERBUDNEWS reports that Prof. Ajibola made the call in Ijebu Ife where the Ijebu East Local Government chapter of YAYI Teachers was recently inaugurated with funfair and celebration galore

(*Prof Abdulwahid Ajibola-OMOLUABI and Comrade Sunday Odunaro in group photograph with the newly inaugurated Excos of YAYI Teachers in Ijebu East LGA)

He appealed to them to take their civic responsibility seriously, noting that ”mere chanting of “YAYI ni jo! YAYI ni jare!!” can neither produce the desired results nor yield the anticipated fruits without viters’ card”.

Prof. Ajibola enjoined the YAYI supporters to ‘:do the needful by taking the advantage of the ongoing online and physical continuous voter’s registration (CVR) by INEC as this is very crucial to our collective future.’”

”Every eligible member, family, friends and associates must participate actively by either registering, revalidating or transferring their voter’s cards in order to obtain the permanent voter’s card (PVC) that qualifies individuals as members of the electorates,” he counseled.

Professor Ajibola-OMOLUABI who hailed from Abeokuta South Local Government area (LGA) of Ogun State enjoined OFY members to work hard in suppor of the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilelekan Adeola-YAYI for eventual occupation of Oke-mosan seat of government come 2027.

Other members in his entourage are Mr Mikhail Alli, OFY Coordinator Odogbolu LGA; Mrs Aminat Owodunni Salau OFY Women Leader Ijebu East LGA; Mr Sikiru Ayanyemi, OFY Coordinator Sagamu LGA as well as his Ward Leaders and Representatives in persons of Mr AbdulAkeem Akinola Ogunbanjo from Ogijo (Ward 10); Mr Kabir Idowu Haruna (Ward 4 – Sabo 1, Sagamu); Mr Abdullah Owolabi Ajibola (Ward 3 – Ayegbami / Ijoku, Sagamu); Mr Nosiru Gbadamosi (Ward 2 – Oko, Epe & Itunla II, Sagamu).

These and other members heartily felicitate with Ijebu East YAYI Teachers as they join their colleagues in other local government areas of Ogun State in their quest towards the enthronement of good governance in the Gateway State.

(*Prof Abdulwahid Ajibola-OMOLUABI with Comrade Sunday Odunaro and some dignitaries on the high table at YAYI Teachers inauguration held at Ijebu Ife)

Thus, supporting the gubernatorial ambition of Senator Solomon Olamilelekan Adeola-YAYI for eventual occupation of Oke-mosan seat of government come 2027.

He lauded the teachers for their boldness, courage and doggedness in joining the moving train leading to success and immense beneficial effects for all and sundry, young and old in Ogun State, especially the teachers whom he said our Principal and Governorship Hopeful, Senator Adeola is fond of and always take cognizance of at every instance.

The OFY Convener enjoined the teachers to appeal to their siddon-look colleagues and those sitting on the fence out of fear to team up with them timely and timeously and support the worthy cause of YAYI’s gubernatorial aspirations in their interest as well as those of their future generations.

He assured them the teachers that they had nothing to fear being associated with this Support group, YAYI Teachers as our political leader in the State, the Executive Governor of Ogun State, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun and Senator Solomon Adeola are working towards the same goal, which is to better the lots of the people in the state.

The dividends of democracy and deliverables being shared and the gigantic infrastructural development being carried out directly, indirectly and facilitated by Senator Adeola-YAYI are in tandem with the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and complementary to the good works of Governor Dapo Abiodun.

Prof Ajibola-OMOLUABi cautioned the teachers not to listen to the misinformation and public ranting in the social media of rift between the two political leaders.

(*Cross section of OFY members and YAYI Teachers at the event)

”That all is just media hype that does not warrant any attention, let alone deserves neither melody nor vibration,” Prof Ajibola-OMOLUABI assured, and went down memory lane to refresh the audience on what brought about learner-drivers being tagged as “Lam” by Ibadan residents in those days.

”It was as a result of the former Executive Governor of Oyo State Late Lam Adesina facilitating the purchase and acquisition of vehicles by Oyo State teachers on a large scale during his regime to the extent that learner-drivers litter the city of Ibadan and environs,” Prof. Ajibola stated.

The OFY Convener said that ”such scenarios and even more will repeat itself by God’s grace come 2027 with Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola at the helms of affairs at Oke-mosan seat of government,” he assured, and quoting the words of Senator Adeola-YAYI daid; “E ti ri nkan kan”……….meaning You aren’t seen anything yet, more goodies still to come.

He congratulated the teachers and prayed for long life for all of them to be amongst the people and technocrats who would ”accompany our prospective Principal and Governorship Hopeful, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola-YAYI to Oke-mosan.’:(FLOWERBUDNEWS)

  • WHO IS AFRAID OF YAYI?

    WHO IS AFRAID OF YAYI?

    By Kayode Oladele

In the unfolding political drama of Ogun State, one question refuses to go away: who is afraid of Yayi?. Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has become more than a political figure. He is today a phenomenon, a movement, and arguably the single most important personality shaping the state’s political conversation ahead of the next governorship election.

To his admirers, Yayi is the long-awaited torchbearer of Ogun West, the man destined to correct decades of political imbalance. To his critics, he is a disruptor, an aspirant whose cross-party popularity unsettles established interests. And to the average voter on the streets of Ifo, Abeokuta, Otta, Ilaro, Ijebu, or Sagamu, his name provokes debate, admiration, and sometimes even awe.

However, the backdrop to Yayi’s ascendancy lies in the history of Ogun politics. Since the creation of the state in 1976, the governorship seat has eluded Ogun West, despite its loyalty and significant contributions to the state’s economic and electoral fortunes. Successive governors have emerged from Ogun Central and Ogun East, leaving the western flank politically orphaned.

This long-standing marginalization has created a powerful sentiment: a collective yearning for equity and inclusion. Yayi has stepped into a vacuum that has existed for decades, becoming the embodiment of Ogun West’s agitation. For many, his aspiration is not just about one man’s ambition but about correcting an injustice that has festered for too long.

In Ogun State today, Yayi towers above other aspirants in popularity. Unlike typical politicians whose influence is confined to their parties, Yayi enjoys broad acceptance across divides. Within the ruling APC, he is the rallying point, the aspirant around whom party faithfuls from the three Senatorial districts are beginning to coalesce.

In the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), his popularity is acknowledged, albeit reluctantly, as grassroots members openly admire his leadership style and track record of empowerment. In the African Democratic Congress (ADC), he is revered and respected. Even among smaller, lesser-known political parties, many have declared their readiness to support and endorse his governorship bid once the race formally begins while the independents, those who don’t have any Party affiliation earnestly yearn for him.

This kind of cross-party and non-partisan phenomenon is rare in Nigerian politics, where partisan identity often defines loyalty. But Yayi has effectively blurred these lines, emerging as a symbol that transcends party labels.

It is no exaggeration to say that Yayi has become a movement beyond himself. His empowerment programs, constituency intervention projects, and consistent engagement with the grassroots have created a following that is loyal not only to the man but also to the cause he represents. Market women chant his name; youth organizations adopt his slogans and community leaders invoke his aspiration as a unifying hope for Ogun West.

For these groups, supporting Yayi is not simply about voting for a politician. It is about participating in a movement that promises fairness, justice, and a sense of belonging. In this sense, Yayi’s phenomenon has grown larger than the individual: it has become a rallying cry for equity in Ogun politics.

Yet, it is precisely this overwhelming popularity that breeds fear. Among some few elements within the entrenched political class, Yayi’s rise is deeply unsettling to those set of people. He has disrupted their old calculations that relied on the fragmentation of Ogun West and the domination of certain people within the two other senatorial districts.

Some factors explain why the fear persists: Yayi’s electoral machine is unrivalled. He has invested years in cultivating grassroots support, making him one of the most formidable mobilizers in the state. Secondly, in a political culture where resources matter, Yayi’s financial muscle gives him a competitive advantage. He is not dependent on patronage from others, which makes him harder to control.

Also important is the fact that his years in Lagos politics and current visibility in Abuja have given him networks that reach beyond Ogun State which reduces the chances of isolating him politically. Finally and most threatening of all, Yayi represents the one cause that cannot easily be dismissed- the demand of Ogun West to produce a governor. This is a moral argument that resonates beyond partisan interest, and it strengthens his claim in ways others cannot easily counter.

Those opposed to Yayi often cloak their fears in narratives about his background. Some argue that his Lagos political history makes him an outsider in Ogun. Others whisper that he is “too ambitious” but these arguments ring hollow when set against the reality of his popularity.

The truth is simpler: Yayi represents a disruption of established hierarchies. His candidacy threatens those who have grown comfortable with a political order that excludes Ogun West. It is this fear of disruption, more than any ideological objection, that fuels opposition to his rise.

What makes Yayi unique is that he has become a symbol larger than himself. His name now represents the collective aspiration of a zone long denied. Even those who are not natural supporters of his politics find themselves acknowledging the justice of his cause.

This explains why Yayi enjoys admiration even within the ranks of the opposition. For PDP members in Ogun West, his candidacy represents what their own party has failed to deliver. For ADC supporters, he is the aspirant who can break the cycle of exclusion. For small parties, supporting him is both pragmatic and symbolic. In short, Yayi has become a unifying force in a way that few politicians achieve.

As 2027 approaches, the battle lines will become clearer. For now, what is evident is that Yayi has changed the narrative of Ogun politics. He has placed Ogun West squarely at the center of the conversation, and no serious political analysis can ignore him.

So, who is afraid of Yayi? Not the market women who sing his praises, not the youth who see in him a new hope, and not the rank-and-file of PDP, ADC, or APC who quietly admire him. The ones afraid are those threatened by his mass appeal, those unsettled by his ability to redefine the terms of the contest, and those unwilling to confront the inevitability of change.

In the end, the question is not about Yayi alone. It is about Ogun State’s readiness to confront its own history of exclusion and embrace equity as the foundation of its future. Fear may delay that reckoning, but it cannot prevent it.

  • WHY REMI TINUBU IS FOND OF SENATOR ADEOLA YAYI

WHY REMI TINUBU IS FOND OF SENATOR ADEOLA YAYI

    Courtesy:  SocietyNow

If there is one lawmaker in Aso Rock who enjoys the fondness of First Lady Remi Tinubu, sources say it is Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, the representative of Ogun West in the National Assembly.

According to insiders, the wife of President Bola Tinubu regards Senator Adeola as a thoroughbred Omoluabi — a person of good character and conduct.

They note that Yayi has consistently treated her with utmost respect, a trait that dates back long before Asiwaju Tinubu became President.

The First Lady is said to be convinced that he extends the same courtesies to others wherever required.

Beyond personal rapport, Mrs. Tinubu is also impressed by Yayi’s track record as a federal legislator. A former senator herself, she has observed his transition from representing Lagos West to Ogun West, where his execution of projects and facilitation of development have been described as “unprecedented.”

Those achievements, coupled with empowerment initiatives that cut across Ogun State, have strengthened his profile as one of the frontrunners in the race to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027.

His ability to attract federal attention and resources has further distinguished him among Ogun’s political class.

Political observers say the First Lady’s fondness could play a subtle but significant role in the unfolding succession battle.

While Mrs. Tinubu does not openly dabble in state politics, her approval is seen as a powerful signal within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

It could give Yayi an edge, especially in mobilising support from both Abuja power brokers and grassroots structures at home.

“So, his good conduct over time and his performance, which is helping to boost the image of the current administration, have really endeared him to the First Lady,” one source explained, adding that “he is regarded as one of her golden sons in the village.”

With the 2027 race still wide open, Yayi’s combination of performance, respect for political elders, and quiet endorsement from influential figures like Mrs. Tinubu may well shape the outcome in Ogun State.

  • OGUN 2027: WHY YAYI IS A POPULAR CHOICE

OGUN 2027: WHY YAYI IS A POPULAR CHOICE

    By Kayode Oladele

As Ogun State edges closer to the 2027 governorship election, one name continues to dominate conversations across towns, markets, and political gatherings, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola Yayi. His growing popularity is rooted not only in his political experience but also in his deliberate investments in people, infrastructure, and social safety nets that touch lives directly.

One of Yayi’s most visible interventions in the recent time was the donation of more than 100 transformers to various communities across Ogun State which he also energized for the benefiting communities. For decades, rural towns and peri-urban areas have endured epileptic electricity supply, stifling small businesses and compounding poverty. The transformers have changed this narrative.

In Ogun West, East and Central, for instance, traders and artisans including Community Development Associations testify that the new transformers have cut their reliance on costly generators. To many residents, the transformers represent not just infrastructure but community empowerment: the light that enables their daily hustle. But this is only one strand in a larger web of empowerment programs that define his style of leadership.
Yayi has not stopped at providing transformers. He has backed this with solar-powered streetlights and road rehabilitation, recognizing that infrastructure must come as a package.

From providing transformers for electricity to rehabilitating rural roads, Yayi has consistently linked infrastructure with human development. He understands that economic growth must be people-centered, and he has complemented these projects with scholarships for indigent students, financial support for market women, tools and training for artisans, and health outreach programs for vulnerable groups.

According to political analyst Kehinde Alamu: “What makes Yayi’s empowerment unique is that it is comprehensive. He doesn’t just give electricity; he supports the businesses that thrive because of it. He doesn’t just build roads; he provides micro-grants so traders can transport goods. That’s why his popularity is rising across the state.”

Beyond infrastructure, Yayi has become a strong advocate of social safety nets which not only cushion economic hardship but also reinforce his reputation as a leader who feels the pulse of the people.
“Yayi is not a distant politician,” says Mrs. Modupe Akinrinade, a trader in Sango market. “He comes to the grassroots and provides solutions from electricity to school fees, from healthcare to market grants. That’s why many of us believe he should be governor in 2027.”

While Yayi hails from Ogun West, his political outreach has gone beyond senatorial and political boundaries. He has built alliances in Ogun Central and Ogun East, fostering inclusiveness in a state where zoning often shapes electoral fortunes. His deliberate efforts to unify diverse communities across Ogun State show his readiness to govern the entire state, not just his senatorial district.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations and firm believer in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Yayi is strategically placed to channel federal resources into Ogun State. His alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda also means Ogun could witness a fresh wave of federal infrastructure and industrial projects under his stewardship.

Ordinary citizens across Ogun State are already weighing in on the 2027 race, and many point to Yayi’s interventions as evidence of what he could offer as governor.
    • “Yayi gave us light when no one remembered us,” says Mr. Kayode Olowu, a welder in Ota. “Now I can work longer hours and earn more money for my family.”
    • “My daughter is in university today because of his scholarship,” adds Mrs. Folake Adeyemi, a widow in Ado-Odo. “Without it, she would have dropped out.”
    • “He gave me a sewing machine last year,” says Miss Funke Adebanjo, a youth in Ifo. “Now I make clothes for people and train two apprentices.”

These testimonies underscore why Yayi is not seen as just another politician, but as a leader whose programs touch lives in immeasurable ways.

Analysts argue that Yayi’s broad acceptance, coupled with his track record of service, already positions him as the frontrunner. His ability to combine infrastructure with social safety nets, empowerment with inclusivity, makes him uniquely appealing in a state hungry for results-driven leadership.

“Yayi represents a new template for Ogun politics,” concludes Dr. Oyesanya. “He is the politician who lights up communities, empowers youths, and cushions the vulnerable. That is why he is the popular choice for 2027.”

Ultimately, Yayi’s popularity lies in his fusion of infrastructure, empowerment, and social safety nets. By donating transformers, he brought electricity; by providing scholarships, he invested in the future; by giving stipends and grants, he created economic resilience. This holistic approach to leadership resonates across age groups, genders, and social classes.

As Ogun prepares for 2027, there is no question whether Yayi is a popular choice and whether widespread agitation for him to run for the governorship of Ogun State has become a Movement, not a political rhetoric. Across markets, classrooms, town halls and government institutions, that much is clear and that sentiment dominates.
