  • Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi Calls for Kwara Master Plan to Sustain AbdulRazaq’s Legacies

    Dr Oluwatoyin Alabi

Ilorin — A philanthropist and an entrepreneur and community leader, Dr. Oluwatoyin Tajudeen Alabi, has called for the development of a comprehensive master plan for Kwara State to guide successive administrations and sustain the legacies of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Dr. Alabi, the immediate past National President of the Igbaja Progressive Union National Executive Council (IPUNEC) and Chief Executive Officer, Integrated Catering Company Limited, owners of The Promise Fast Food brand, made the call during a tour of media houses in Ilorin.

He said the absence of a clearly documented master plan for the state prompted him to initiate a process, stressing that continuity in governance is critical for sustainable development.

“While thinking about the future of Kwara State after Governor AbdulRazaq, I searched for a state master plan but could not find one.

” That informed my decision to set up a 44-member panel to develop a master plan for the state,” he said.

According to him, the committee produced a 62-page document, which was later distilled into a one-page action plan, alongside a seven-point development agenda aimed at repositioning the state and lifting residents out of poverty.

The agenda, the state governorship hopeful said, covers agricultural revolution, world-class education, round-the-clock security, modern infrastructure linking all communities with roads, water, electricity and internet, quality healthcare delivery, tourism development, and an inclusive economy that promotes shared prosperity.

Dr. Alabi, APC chieftain, commended Governor AbdulRazaq’s investments in the education sector, but advocated free and compulsory education at primary and secondary school levels to eliminate out-of-school children in the state.

He noted that Kwara currently ranks 25th among the 36 states on the educationally disadvantaged index, stressing the need for deliberate efforts to raise educational standards at all levels.

On healthcare, the APC stalwart said special attention would be given to the aged and vulnerable, adding that the health sector would be strengthened to ensure that no resident dies from treatable illnesses such as malaria.

He praised the state government for providing health facilities and laying solid foundation but said qualified personnel would be engaged to manage them effectively, even if it requires sourcing skilled manpower from outside the state.

Dr. Alabi also outlined plans for an agricultural-led industrial revolution across the state’s 16 local government areas, noting that agriculture with value addition would drive employment and economic growth.

“With about 65 per cent of Kwara’s population being youths, their energies and capacities must be productively engaged,” he said.

The governorship hopeful explained that the state would clear land at no cost and provide farming inputs, while individuals would own and manage farm settlements equipped with urban-style facilities across the council areas.

According to him, proceeds from agricultural production would be shared into three parts — one for the state, one for the farmer, and the third reinvested to sustain the programme.

Dr. Alabi stressed the need to boost infrastructure across the three senatorial districts, particularly road networks, to ease the transportation of agricultural produce.

On tourism, he said, Ilorin would be transformed into a year-round destination through the development of tourist centres and attraction of international conferences.

“Governor AbdulRazaq has already laid the foundation with the construction of modern five-star hotels, international conference facilities and the renovation of Kwara Hotel,” he noted.

He added that tourism sites across the three senatorial districts would be upgraded to international standards to boost the state’s economy.

Dr. Alabi further promised the reconstruction of all major markets across the state to global standards and improved access to credit facilities for traders and entrepreneurs.

The immediate past National President of Igbaja Progressive Union disclosed plans to establish state-owned microfinance banks to be managed by commercial banks, offering single-digit interest loans to residents.

“If money circulates among the people, poverty and begging will reduce and eventually stop. We want Kwarans to be self-sufficient and empowered to grow their own businesses,” he said.

Dr. Alabi also pledged to partner with media organisations within and outside the state to promote development and project Kwara positively.

A visionary entrepreneur and governance advocate, Dr. Alabi is the Founder and CEO of Integrated Catering Company Limited, owners of The Promise Fast Food brand, which has grown into a national enterprise with plans for expansion to Dubai, London and Houston.

His aspiration to serve as Governor of Kwara State, he said, is driven by a commitment to transparency, inclusive governance, youth empowerment and sustainable economic growth.

Receiving the team of Dr Alabi at Radio Kwara, Alhaji Tajudeen Kayode Aremu welcome Dr Alabi and his team, saying that the organization do not discriminate against anyone, candidate and party.

He was glad to see the calibre of Dr Alabi showing interest to succeed Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who has gone a long way to reposition the state as noted by the APC stalwart.

According to him, all the three platforms of the state broadcasting organisation are available for usage by the governorship hopeful.

Also, at Herald Newspaper, the General Manager, Mr Yomi Adeboye thanked the team for the visit, saying that the Herald is now focused on generating fund for the state.

He said that when he came on board, everything about the newspaper was almost grounded but today the newspaper is online and on the social media.

The general manager thank Gov AbdulRazaq for giving the organisation free hands to operate, saying that the press cannot be separated from successful democratic structure anywhere in the world.

Other places visited during the two days media tour included News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), NUJ, Correspondent Chapel of the NUJ, Diamond 88.7FM, Albarka 89.9 FM, NAWOJ, NALVEJ, Radio Kwara and the Herald.

”Nigeria’s housing deficit, estimated in the tens of millions, remains one of the country’s most pressing social and economic challenges, driven by rapid urbanisation, population growth and rising construction costs.

“The new framework is expected to guide housing delivery, land administration, and urban development planning across the Federation in the coming years.

”Urban renewal and regeneration have been adopted as national policy tools to modernise cities, curb uncontrolled urban expansion, and respond to population pressure and climate challenges,” he said.

He said public-private partnerships would serve as the main engine for mass housing and urban infrastructure delivery across the country.

The Kwara Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr Segun Ogunshola, said challenges affecting housing provision persisted, but the state government was implementing measures to address land and housing shortages.

He said the 20,000-unit Kwara Smart City Project was already laying the foundation for a next-generation mega city, adding that the project’s master plan had been reviewed to improve livability.

  • Ede Young Tailors Seek Osun Government’s Support

The Federation of Young Professional Tailors Association, Ede, has appealed to the Osun State Government, under the leadership of Governor Ademola Adeleke, for support to enable the association function more effectively.

The appeal was made on Wednesday during a special prayer session organised to mark the association’s annual anniversary at its secretariat along Yidi Road, Ojoro area of Ede.

Speaking at the event, the President-General of the association, Comrade Walliyullai Adesina, noted that tailors contribute meaningfully to the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), stressing that clothing is a basic human necessity both in life and in death.

According to him, the association has existed for several years, with members spread across Ede town and its environs.

“As artisans, our role is huge and very crucial. Tailoring is a global profession, not limited to Nigeria alone. Clothes do not sew themselves; that is why tailors are everywhere, operating peacefully and professionally in line with laid-down regulations,” he said.

Adesina assured Governor Adeleke of the association’s support, pledging that members would exercise their civic responsibility by voting accordingly in forthcoming elections.

In her remarks, Alhaja Kaothar Oyedele said members were passionate about achieving the association’s aims and objectives but were constrained by inadequate support.

“One of our major challenges is our inability to benefit from some of the incentive programmes organised by the government,” she said.

Other members, including Alhaja Ola Anabi, Mrs. Arogunmosa, Mummy Atiyat, and the Chairperson of Owode-Ede, Alhaja Lawal, also appealed to the state government for assistance and recognition.

Similarly, Comrade Abdul Hakeem Abdul Roheem, popularly known as Akorede, emphasised the need for greater recognition and patronage of the tailoring profession.

“Our importance cannot be overemphasised, especially during elections. There is hardly any polling unit where you will not find at least one tailor.

“Overall, we need manpower and support to carry out our activities within the limits of the law,” he said.

Other frontline tailors who spoke at the anniversary—including former chairman Comrade Sulaiman, Alfa Ahmad, Hammed Olatunji, Daud Okikiola, and Abd-Fatai Abd-Lateef—affirmed that tailoring is a viable profession capable of opening doors to greater opportunities.

Responding on behalf of the government, Alhaji Abdul-Ganiy Amoo Tiamiyu commended the association for its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke’s renewed agenda ahead of August 8.

He encouraged members to strengthen their association by increasing their membership base and ensuring that all eligible members obtained their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to participate fully in the democratic process.

“Governor Ademola Adeleke does not take the plight of artisans lightly, and his administration will continue to support initiatives that promote their welfare and recognition,” he said.

Alhaji Tiamiyu, who is a Commissioner with the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), assured the association of the government’s continued collaboration with artisans and business groups to ensure they receive necessary support as and when due.

  • Deputy Senate President Lauds Collaboration Between Executive and Legislative

The Deputy Senate President, Barau Jubrin, says the wonderful collaboration between the executive and the legislature is borne out of President Bola Tinubu’s antecedent and understanding as a former governor and Senator.

Delivering a lecture at the 15th Convocation Ceremony of the Al-Hikmah University,  Atere, Ilorin on Wednesday,  Jubrin dispelled insinuations in certain quarters that the National Assembly members are subservient to the executive.

Senator Jubrin in the lecture with the entitled: “Managing executive-legislative relations towards democratic consolidation in Nigeria’s fourth republic,” says President Tinubu understands the game very well. He interacts with the lawmakers very well.

“As we speak there is a wonderful collaboration between the executive and legislative arms of government. Reason being that the president is a Senator.

“Whenever he wants to present any bill to the National Assembly he normally meets with the executive members to discuss about the bill before it is being brought for debate. We will correct the mistakes if there are any. That is why the bills get accelerated passage.

“That is why we have the atmosphere of good collaboration with President Tinubu and people see it as being rubber-stamp of the executive.

“When peace can give the nation what it wants why engage in fighting? At the beginning of this fourth republic, there was this lack of Harmony between the legislature and executive because of the psyche of Nigerians occasioned by prolonged military rule.

“The then President thought he should have maximum powers. He was not relating with us the way the current president is relating. I was at the House of Representatives then. I can see the difference. It was like an order then.

“President Tinubu knows the game very well. This collaboration is very essential for us to have a smooth running of government.

“But some people construe the collaboration as being subservient to the executive. It is because we interact on a continuous basis.”

The Senator continued that “Nigeria’s Fourth Republic has endured longer than any previous democratic experiment in our history. This endurance, however, must be matched with qualitative democratic deepening. Managing Executive–Legislature relations with wisdom, restraint, and constitutional fidelity is central to this task.

“As graduands of Al-Hikmah University step into society, I urge you to uphold democratic values, demand accountable governance, and contribute intellectually and ethically to Nigeria’s democratic consolidation. Democracy is not sustained by institutions alone, but by enlightened citizens and principled leaders.”

In his speech,  the Vice-Chancellor,  Prof Lateef Folorunsho Oladimeji said as part of efforts to strengthen the global outlook of the University, it has been enrolled in the Times Higher Education Sustainable Network.

According to him, the strategic step qualifies the institution for full participation in the Time Higher Education (THE) Sustainable Impact and further enhances our visibility on the global stage.

“On the 9th of October 2025, Times Higher  Education confirmed Al-Hikmah University’s first ever entry into the World University ranking recently released.

“Our goal is simple: to build a vibrant research culture that competes confidently on the global stage, while paying glowing tribute to Dr Abdulazeez  Ayinla, Sulaiman Yusuf and MBO Yusuf, who as co-principal investigators, were ranked among the top 200 research proposal in the most recent TETFund National Research Fund (NRF)  exercise.

Prof Oladimeji disclosed that some infrastructural projects ate ongoing in the Institution: a new nursing complex ar Adeta Campus, expansion abs remodeling of the Cadaver Laboratory, a new Faculty of Law Complex at Atere, a new Faculty of Humanities abd Social Sciences at Atere Campus, and Engineering Workshop.

  • Tinubu’s 2nd Term: Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi Inaugurates LG Campaign Coordinators in Kwara South,  Declares Intention for Governorship

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Dr. Oluwatoyin Alabi, has inaugurated local government campaign coordinators for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid across the seven local government areas of Kwara South Senatorial District.

The inauguration ceremony, which attracted a large turnout of APC supporters from across the state, was held on Wednesday in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Alabi charged the newly inaugurated coordinators to work tirelessly to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

“There is no vacancy in Aso Rock,” he declared, drawing thunderous applause and spontaneous chants of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the crowd.

He described the coordinators as the “arrowhead” of the campaign structure, tasked with grassroots mobilization and effective coordination ahead of the election.

Dr. Alabi disclosed plans to replicate the exercise in Kwara Central and Kwara North Senatorial Districts to ensure a smooth and comprehensive campaign across the state.

“Charity begins at home. I have chosen to start from my constituency to lead by example, but the entire Kwara State remains my constituency,” he said.

According to him, campaign coordinators and committees would be established in all local government areas to work assiduously towards the success of President Tinubu’s re-election, thereby ensuring the full realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also commended Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, describing the governor’s steadfast support as a factor that has earned him increased national recognition.

“Our governor has stood solidly behind Mr President. His loyalty and commitment have elevated his status, particularly his role in working directly with the Presidency,” Dr. Alabi noted.

He urged Kwarans to remain resolute in their support for President Tinubu and Governor AbdulRazaq, who also serves as Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum.

Dr. Alabi further revealed that Governor AbdulRazaq was appointed by the Presidency to lead reconciliation efforts within the APC, aimed at uniting all factions of the party ahead of the next general election.

“The focus of this committee is simple: to rally massive support for the re-election of President Tinubu. One principle of life is that whatever you make happen for others, God will make happen for you,” he said.

He expressed optimism that Kwara South, Kwara Central, and Kwara North would be major beneficiaries of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“I am committed to supporting and implementing this agenda at the state level. We are working in tandem with the Federal Government, and when sincerely implemented, the agenda will undoubtedly change the narrative for individuals and the general public,” he added.

Responding to questions from journalists, Dr. Alabi identified tourism as a key driver of economic growth, noting that the sector contributed about 3.8 percent to Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) last year—one of the highest contributions outside the oil sector.

He expressed confidence that the contribution would increase further in the coming years.

Dr. Alabi also emphasized youth empowerment through agriculture, noting that Nigeria’s large youthful population must be productively engaged.

“We are goung to redirect the energy of our youths into agriculture. This will not be business as usual. There will be farm settlements in all wards and local government areas to ensure that young people are economically relevant and self-sufficient,” he said.

Dr Alabi with the Elesee of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola to receive royal blessing.

According to him, President Tinubu’s agenda is focused on ensuring food security, economic self-reliance, and export capacity, while prioritizing human capital development.

“We will work hand-in-hand with the Federal Government to guarantee capacity development and ensure our youths are constructively engaged—for their benefit, the society, and humanity at large,” he stated.

The high point of the event was Dr. Alabi’s emphatic political declaration that there is “no vacancy in Aso Rock,” a statement widely interpreted as an unequivocal endorsement of President Tinubu’s second-term ambition and his intention to run for the state governorship election.

He stressed the importance of unity, political consistency, and sustained grassroots engagement, noting that the strength of any democratic movement lies in its connection with the people.

Dr. Alabi charged party members to remain committed to mobilization, political enlightenment, and people-oriented initiatives aligned with national development goals.

Earlier, Dr Alabi and his entourage visited the Palace of the Elesee of Igbaja, Oba Ahmed Babalola Awuni,  a first class royal father in Ifelodun Local Government, for a royal blessing.

The presence of coordinators from across Kwara South gave the event a strong organizational outlook, projecting it as a structured, purpose-driven political platform rather than a mere gathering.
