  • The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command CP Victor Olaiya psc(+) has assured residents of Kwara State of maximum security ahead of Local Government Elections on Saturday.

    This is contained in a statement signed by DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer and made available to Flowerbudnews.

    According to the spokesperson, the Commissioner of Police assures Kwarans of maximum security ahead of the Local Government Election scheduled for Saturday, 21st September 2024.

    “In a bid to ensure the smooth conduct of the elections, the command has made thorough security arrangements to guarantee a peaceful, free, and fair process across all polling units in the state.

    “A strategic meeting was held yesterday with Heads of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Airforce, Nigerian Navy, The DSS, NSCDC, FRSC, The Custom and Immigration Service, NCoS, The NDLEA and the Federal Fire Service to discuss coordinated efforts to maintain law and order before, during, and after the election.

     

    “This collaboration underscores the commitment of all security agencies to safeguard the process and ensure that the election is free from violence or intimidation of any form.

    “Residents are encouraged to exercise their civic duty with confidence, knowing that their safety is top priority.”

    The police boss explained that the combined forces of these agencies will be deployed across the state to ensure that lives and property are protected throughout the election period.

    He appealed to the good people of Kwara to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperate fully with security personnels on duty.

    CP Olaiya said that the Kwara State Command will continue to work tirelessly with sister agencies to guarantee a secure environment for all, and “we trust that the election will be a success.”

     

     

  • NSCDC Deploys Over 3,000 Personnel for Kwara LG Elections

     

    The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed more than 3,000 officers across the 16 local government areas of the state ahead of the local government elections scheduled for Saturday.

    This is contained in a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Michael Shola, and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.

    Commandant Dr. Umar J.G. Mohammed disclosed that the personnel were drawn from various divisions, including the State Command, Area Commands, and Divisional Offices in all the LGAs.

    “These officers will man polling units and work in collaboration with other security agencies to ensure peaceful elections.

    “Our primary responsibility is to create an environment where the local government election can be conducted peacefully, free from violence, intimidation, ballot snatching, and any other disruptive actions,” Dr. Umar said.

    He further said that the NSCDC would not tolerate any form of political thuggery, violence, or hooliganism.

    “Any action aimed at disrupting the electoral process will be met with immediate and decisive action,” he warned.

    Special units, including Operation Harmony, the Counter-Terrorism Unit, and the Female Squad, will patrol the state to enhance security.

    Officers from the Anti-Vandal Unit and the Critical National Assets and Infrastructure Department will also be deployed to safeguard government assets during the election”

    Dr. Umar urged political parties and citizens to cooperate with security agencies, advising them to avoid actions that could disrupt the peace.

     

     

  • NYSC DG Urges Corps members To Accept Their Postings As Agents of Change

    Ede (Osun):  (Flowerbudnews): The National Youth service corps (NYSC) members have been advised to accept their posting and be agents of change contributing toward the development of their host communities.

    Osun state NYSC coordinator, Mr Agbor Ndoma Obim gave the advice on Tuesday during the terminal parade and closing ceremony of 2024 BATCH “B” STREAM II at the NYSC orientation camp, Ede.

    Mr Obim, who spoke on behalf of NYSC Director General, Brig. Y. D. Ahmed urged the corpers to take their service seriously by shunning evil vices and relationship that can put their life in danger.

    According to him, over the past few weeks, you have been introduced to various rigorous trainings and ideas that equipped you with the skills needed to excel during the service year.

    He said further, “I am confident that the friendship that you have forged, the skills and experience you have shared will serve as a solid foundation for your contribution to the nation’s development.”

    He also charged them to continue uphold the values of the scheme as the communities where they would serve were eagerly awaiting their impacts by approaching their assignments with dedication, humility and willingness to serve.

    He emphatically revered to them as the ambassadors of national unity and development, that the journey would be filled with challenges and opportunities, urging them to embrace each moment with an open mind and positive attitude.

    He used the occasion to appreciate the Director of South West Area office 1 and Area office 2, Mrs Olubukola Abiodun and Mrs Fransisca Olaleye and other camp officials in ensuring the success of the orientation.

     

     

  • Eid Maulud: Aderibigbe Urges Nigerians to Renew Patriotism, Love, Support for Leaders 

     

    Renowned legal luminary and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Barrister Debo Aderibigbe, has congratulated Muslims across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

    In his message, Aderibigbe called on Nigerians to reflect on the Prophet’s teachings of love, kindness, and tolerance, while urging the nation to embrace the values of peace, compassion, and unity exemplified by the Prophet.

  • Eid-ul-Mawlid: Kwara Speaker Rejoices with Muslims, Calls for Unity, Patriotism

     

    The Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, has extended warm greetings to Muslims in Kwara State and across Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad

    In his message, Danladi-Salihu emphasized the significance of reflecting on the life and teachings of the Prophet.

    He urged all Muslims to imbibe the virtues of kindness, compassion, and the strengthening of communal ties.

    “I am pleased to send my warmest felicitation to Kwara and Nigerian Muslims on the occasion of Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birthday of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, PBUH. In the spirit of the celebration, I’d like to urge us all to keep reflecting on the noble and exemplary life the Prophet lived, as well as his teachings which centered around kindness, compassion, strengthening of brotherhood, and community relation.”

  • FOMWAN trains 97 youths in Kwara on spirituality, moral guidance

    Ilorin – The Federation of the Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) have trained 97 youths from across the 16 Local Government Area of Kwara on spiritual and moral guidance.

    Speaking at the Step Down of FOMWAN Annual Zonal Youth Camp, in Ilorin, the Chief lmam of Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete, Prof. Hamzat AbdulRaheem, called on parents to inculcate moral values on their children to make them useful in the society.

    The Chief Imam spoke on the topic entitled: “Quran As Compass”.

    AbdulRaheem, who was the Immediate Past Dean, School of Post Graduate of KWASU, observed that the programme is crucial, as girls were trained on values and God-consciousness.

    According to him, the girl-child are the future mothers of the society and there is need for them to be enlightened and well informed on what is expected of them as good citizens of the nation.

    “We expect that women in our society should brace up. They should put the fear of Allah in the way they think, behave and act.

    “The society expect more from them and they should not disappoint their communities,” he said.

    Also speaking, Dr. Mahmud Danjuma, a cleric and Guest Lecturer of the Occasion, enjoined the youths to follow the teachings of the Holy Quran, as thought by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

    Danjuma advised them to apply what is being learnt in their personal lives and also by contributing positively to their communities and the society at large.

    He emphasized on the role of the Quran in shaping moral values, decision making, and leadership.

    The cleric likened the Quran to a compass, which provides direction and clarity in a world filled with distractions and uncertainties.

    Speaking earlier, Naibat Amerah of FOMWAN, Hajia Bilkis Oladimeji urged the youth to always have mentor to look upon them in achieving their future goals.

    Oladimeji explained that FOMWAN aimed at inspiring and equiping young girls to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to the society. (NAN)

     

     

  • Federal Polytechnic Ede Converts Expulsion of 27 Students to Suspension

    The management of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State, have ratified the recommendation of the ad hoc committee set up on the expelled students by converting their rustication into suspension for the 2023 /24 academic session.

    The chairman of the council, Professor Taiwo Olaiya disclosed this while briefing the newsmen about the resolution taken by the committee to pardon the affected students.

    According to him, On August 21, the council led by Prof. Olaiya promised to look into the pleas of well meaning Nigerians to temper justice with mercy by reviewing the earlier sanctions.

    “The school management had on July 27, announced the explosions of 27 students and suspension of eight others over their roles in the May 9 violent protest in the institution.

    “In May this year, there was an unfortunate situation in the campus, where some set of students were trying to raise a dust in an improper way. As their profiles were given, the authority ordered for their rustication and suspension”, he added.

    The students according to the findings, had protested against the arrest of their colleagues by the operatives of EFCC in Owode – Ede , a community in the Local Government Area of the institution.

    He said the institution under his watch will not relent in pursuit of excellence hence the approval of the committee’s immediate reinstatement of the suspended students and a-one session suspension for the earlier rusticated students.

    According to him, for those who were earlier suspended, they have been fully pardoned with a warning not to involve themselves in such act again and will write letter of apology to the management before they can fully resume.

    The council also lifted the ban on the students union activities on the campus and directed the school management to constitute faculty representative that would see to the affairs of the union till the end of the season.

    “To forestall future reccorent act of indiscipline and serve as deterent, the council approved the recommendation of the committee that reparations levies of N10,000 should be paid by all students,” he said.

    Meanwhile, a staff in the campus who spoke to Flowerbudnews on the condition of anonymity, called on the pardoned students not to take advantage of the governing council’s mercy to further indulge in an unwanted activities that would cause tension and destruction in and outside the school.

    He said: “the institution is established because of you, we would have no business if you are not here, so your problems are our problems and whenever you spotted any, channel it to appropriate channel.”

  • Gov AbdulRazaq Approves 2023/2024 Promotion of TESCOM Staff

    Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved promotion examination for all the staff of Kwara State Teaching Service Commission that are due for 2023/2024 promotion.

    This is contained in a statement signed by Bola Onile, Press Secretary to the Kwara State TESCOM and made available to newsmen in Ilorin.

    The Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar disclosed this in Ilorin on Tuesday, while addressing the management staff of the commission in his office.

    He affirmed that the approval is another testimony of Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to improving the welfare of teachers in the state.

    Bello recalled that the governor on assumption of office in 2019 cash backed the promotions for the years 2015, 2016, 2017 and has since cash backed the promotions to 2021 and 2022 respectively.

    The Chairman, however, implored the affected Tescom Staff to remain committed to their primary assignments to further sustain effective service delivery as expected.

    Bello added that the present administration will continue to give necessary attention to the welfare of workers toward motivating them for better performance

    He pointed out that the examination date will be announced or communicated very soon.

     

     

  • Gov. Mohammed Scraps Local Government Ministry

    Bauchi: Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state has announced the scrapping of the state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

    Mohammed stated this on Monday during the swearing-in ceremony of three Commissioners and one Chief Security Adviser to the state governor.

    According to him, the decision was as a result of the Supreme Court judgment granting autonomy to Local Government Areas in the country where each of the LGAs has its chairman overseeing its affairs.

    Mohammed also announced the dropping of Dr. Adamu Umar as the state’s Commissioner for Health, saying that the decision was to rejig the machinery of governance for more results.

    “We have to rejig the cabinet in order to achieve the set objectives of the administration.

    “We need to bring in fresh blood, brains with fresh ideas of how to move the state ahead positively.

    “The former Commissioner for Health was not dropped because of any infractions, it was just part of reorganisation of governance.

    “Very soon, we will find a way to fix him in government where he will be most relevant and more active,” he said.

    He charged the newly sworn in Commissioners to immediately settle down to business by ensuring that they study all the handover notes left in their respective Ministries to be able to catch up with the speed the administration was moving.

    The commissioners and their portfolio includes; Hajiya Zainab Baba-Tako, Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Sani Mohammed as the State Commissioner for Health and Mohammed AbdulKadir as the state Commissioner for Commerce and Industry.

    Mr Ahmed Abdulrahman was appointed and sworn in as the Chief Security Adviser to the state governor.

    Speaking on behalf of others, Hajiya Zainab Baba-Tako, Commissioner for Women Affairs, expressed appreciation for giving them the opportunity to serve and contribute their own quota towards the development of the state.

    She promised that they would deploy all the mechanisms to take their various ministries to great heights.
