The Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Banku Obi, has affirmed that the university management regards a visiting team from the Federal Ministry of Education Abuja, Implementation Monitoring Committee on the Needs Assessment of Nigerian Public Universities, as colleagues committed to advancing the Nigerian university education system.
Prof. Obi who made the remark at the Vice Chancellor’s Conference room expressed delight in hosting the delegation and emphasized the importance of the monitoring exercise, a statement by the Public Relations Unlt of the
University disclosed.
Represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Tony Eyang, the Varsity administrator said she is pleased to see union representatives in the needs assessment process.
In her words, “We are happy to see you as colleagues and comrades who are pushing to advance university education in Nigeria. We are partners in progress, and on that note, you are welcome.”
The Head of the team, Comrade Mohamed Ibrahim, stressed the importance of the visit, explaining that the purpose was to verify how funds disbursed in 2021 for projects had been utilized and to confirm the completion status of those projects.
According to him, “We are not here for witch-hunting, but this is a necessary process for things to move forward. We ask for your cooperation in order to make our visit a fulfilling one.”
The visit brought together members of the university management team alongside the UNICAL Needs Assessment Committee.
