Apapa Customs records N28.1bn in single-day revenue
Aug. 19, 2026, The Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it generated N28.1 billion in 24 hours, its highest single-day revenue collected on Aug. 18 2026.
The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, disclosed this in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, Isah Sulaiman, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Lagos.
Oshoba noted that the N28.1 billion collection surpassed the previous record of N20.1 billion achieved in September 2025.
He attributed the latest milestone to sustained reforms and improved compliance, noting that the command had generated N323 billion in July.
According to him, the record reflected improved trade facilitation, intelligence-driven interventions and greater efficiency in digital customs processes at the Apapa Port.
The comptroller stressed that revenue generation was not merely about figures but about contributing to the economic wellbeing of Nigerians through the provision of public services.
“Revenue generated by the service funds infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other priorities that impact ordinary Nigerians,” he said.
Oshoba dedicated the milestone to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr Bashir Adeniyi, for his support for the modernisation of the service.
He also lauded the management of the service for driving automation and reforms aimed at improving customs operations and creating a more business-friendly environment.
The controller acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders, whose cooperation he described as critical to the achievement.
He equally appreciated Nigerians who provided actionable intelligence, noting that every compliant transaction contributed to national development.
“Stakeholders should continue supporting legitimate trade. A stronger revenue base gives the government greater capacity to respond to people’s needs,” he said.
Oshoba urged officers and men of the command to avoid complacency, stressing that the record should be viewed as a greater responsibility to do more for the country.
He directed personnel to ensure that revenue collection was pursued alongside trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.
The controller further instructed that legitimate disputes be resolved promptly to prevent customs procedures from unnecessarily hindering lawful businesses.
Oshoba reaffirmed the Apapa Area Command’s commitment to sustaining the momentum through improved revenue generation, trade facilitation and stronger collaboration with stakeholders in the interest of national development.
