Oshogbo (FLOWERBUDNEWS): Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State was on Friday in Oshogbo, honoured with an award of ”2024 Best Public Service Loving Governor in Nigeria” by the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU), the first of its kind in the history of Nigeria.
Bestowing the Special Honour and award on Governor Adeleke, who was represented by the Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, the National President of NCSU, Comrade Oluwole Adeleye Sunday, declared that the award to Governor Adeleke was the first of its type in the history of labour movement in Nigeria.
Comrade Oluwole, who is also the Deputy President of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC), disclosed that the honour was bestowed on Governor Adeleke with the knowledge and permission of NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero.
The NCSU National President said Governor Adeleke was honoured for his several unequaled achievements, some of which he listed as:
Regular payment of full salary to date; Regular payment of gratuities and pension to retirees; Continuous payment of outstanding salary areas; Full payment of all outstanding cooperative deductions and Regular promotion.
Governor Adeleke’s achievements, Comrade Oluwole stated, also included; Regular payment of annual increment; Approved work leave to ease plight of workers; Approval of continuation of wage award to all categories of workers and pensioners and Free OHIS cover for all Osun State Pensioners among others.
Comrade Oluwole expressed the Union’s appreciation to Governor Adeleke, saying – You have done well. He urged the civil servants to reciprocate the Governor’s goodwill by being loyal and dedicated to their duties.

The Union leader urged the civil servants to campaign for the re-election of Governor Adeleke in 2026, adding, we will come to campaign for him” for his second term.
Many other labour leaders spoke glowingly of Governor Adeleke for his good works, noting that despite treating workers very well, the Governor was simultaneously executing infrastructural projects in all the local government areas of the state.
Speaking at the occasion, Deputy Governor Adewusi extolled the good qualities of Governor Adeleke and cited several instances where the Governor had demonstrated so much compassion in helping people.
”He doesn’t like to see people cry,” the Deputy Governor remarked, noting that the Governor never turned down anything or request that would benefit workers in the State.
He related the story of how Governor Adeleke approved all the welfare requests of Medical Doctors in the state when their national body called for strike. The Governor approved the Doctors requests o safe the people from the traumatic experience of doctors on strike, Deputy Governor Adewusi stated
The Deputy Governor however, urged the workers to remain dedicated and start in earnest to work for the Governor Adeleke’s reelection in 2026.
