… to impose sanctions
The Management of the University of Calabar (Unical) has warned staff and students against walking on the university’s green areas, announcing that appropriate sanctions will be imposed on any defaulters.
The warning was conveyed in a memo signed by the University Registrar, Dr. (Mrs.) Chukwuka I. Icha, following an emergency meeting held on Thursday, 4 December 2025, a statement by the Public Relations unit of the
University disclosed.
In the memo, management noted the deplorable condition of the green spaces and expressed strong disapproval of the ongoing lack of maintenance.
Consequently, all members of the university community are hereby notified of a “No Thoroughfare” order on all green areas, effective Monday, 8 December 2025.
According to the memo, any staff or student found walking on a green area will be subject to the prescribed sanctions.
