Abuja (Flowerbudnews): The Director General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has reiterated the commitment of her Agency to the protection of the health of Nigerians.
Prof. Adeyeye was reacting to a publication by an online media (not Flowerbudnewd) that insinuated a negative insight into the Nigerian dairy market.
The NAFDAC Boss assured Nigerians that the Agency was working in the best interest of the public ‘:and will not register products for use in Nigeria without due regulatory diligence in our bid to safeguard the health of the public.”

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)
has noted an article in Premium Times online publication of 27th August 2024 titled: “Investigation: Milk or Mimic: Nigeria’s dairy market, a hub for inferior EU products”.
It is important to provide clarification to the public from the regulator’s perspective. The Milk and Dairy Products Regulations, 2021 describes a range of different milk and dairy products including whole milk powder, skimmed milk powder, and filled milk which is described as a blend of skimmed milk and non-fat milk (vegetable fat).
The Codex Alimentarius Commission, a recognized, international Food Standards setting Body has in its collection of published standards the ‘Standard For a Blend of Skimmed Milk and Vegetable Fat in Powdered Form’ intended for direct consumption, or further processing.
The product ‘filled milk’ is described in the Milk and Dairy Products Regulations, 2021 and is therefore recognized.
NAFDAC continues to carry out her mandate in the best interest of the public and will not register products for use in Nigeria without due regulatory diligence in our bid to safeguard the health of the public. (Flowerbudnews)
