2024 Hajj: Makinde charges intending Pilgrims on strict adherence to safety protocols, guidelines

Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has urged the 1,007 intending pilgrims departing the state for the 2024 pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, to strictly adhere to safety protocols and guidelines while in the holy land.
Gov Makinde made the call in his address at a farewell ceremony held at the open field by the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Bashorun, Ibadan
News Agency of Nigeria reports that the first batch of pilgrims is set to depart the country on May 18, while the second batch would leave on May 19.
He also advised them to foster goodwill, promote peaceful coexistence among themselves regardless of the part of the state they all came from.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Chairman, Oyo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board, Sheikh Wahab Atere, expressed gratitude to Governor Makinde for always giving prompt considerations and approvals to issues affecting the welfare of the Muslim community.
In their separate goodwill messages, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdulganiy Agbotomokekere, and Prof. K.K. Olosho lauded gov Makinde’s effort in ensuring that the Muslim community in the state is not lagging. (NAN)
