The Federal Government has commenced training of 10, 480 facilitators to run the Conditional Cash Transfer Scheme (CCT) in 23 local government areas of Kaduna State.
The training is being run in collaboration with the state Ministry of Rural and Community Development, Head of the CCT Unit in the ministry, Hajiya Hauwa Abdulrazaq, said on Wednesday in Kaduna.
She spoke during a step down training for facilitators of mobilisations and savings groups under the CCT.
She said that the aim of the training was to ensure smooth implementation of the scheme, which is a major component of the social intervention program of the federal government.
According to her, the conditional cash transfer scheme is meant to reduce poverty and social economic vulnerability among the population.
Abdulrazaq disclosed that the training would equip the facilitators with tools and knowledge to educate beneficiaries on savings and group mobilization for sustainability and self reliance.
“The component of the programme is the targeted cash transfer where five thousand naira (N5,000) per month would be given to care givers of identified households in the national social register.”
The official said that the scheme would not only support the poor but also promote savings culture at the grassroots.
Abdulrazaq urged the facilitators to encourage positive attitude among the beneficiaries to achieve saving culture, mobilization of economic assets to improve economic status, and need to form cooperatives.
”We hope what they have learned will be impacted well to the beneficiaries for them to be able to sustain themselves and move out of extreme poverty,” she addled.(NAN)
