Ex-Niger Delta agitator distances self from plots to disrupt Pro-Tinubu campaigns over pipeline surveillance

Niger Delta ex-agitator, self-styled General Endurance Amagbein, on Monday, dismissed reports alleging that he is planning to disrupt pro-Tinubu campaigns in the Niger Delta over delay by the Federal Government in decentralising the pipeline surveillance contract.

Amagbein, in a statement issued to newsmen in Abuja, described the author of the publication as a “fictitious character allegedly being used by pipeline surveillance contractors to circulate malicious reports against him.”

The ex-agitator, fondly called “Adaka Boro the Second,” stated that he is a die-hard supporter of President Bola Tinubu and would never engage in any act capable of jeopardising the president’s chances of winning the 2027 election.

Amagbein described the publication as the handiwork of his adversaries aimed at smearing his reputation, stressing that he has never conceived or supported any such plot.

According to him, the same group of individuals who allegedly accused him falsely in connection with the Okuama incident to secure the renewal of surveillance contracts have now resorted to spreading unfounded allegations after running out of ideas.

He said the report was merely a distraction designed to gain favour from the president and once again set state actors against him over matters he knows nothing about.

Amagbein, however, reiterated his call for the decentralisation of pipeline surveillance contracts, noting that it would promote healthy competition, enhance transparency, boost oil production, and curb crude oil theft, particularly by insiders.

He maintained that no amount of blackmail would discourage him from speaking the truth and standing for what is right for the people of the Niger Delta.

The ex-agitator further stated that he mobilised his supporters and associates across the Niger Delta and beyond to support President Tinubu during the 2023 elections, adding that he has no regrets about that decision.

He emphasised that he remains an ardent supporter of the Renewed Hope Agenda and will deploy the same energy and commitment he demonstrated in 2023 to support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

The former freedom fighter urged members of the public to disregard the publication against him, describing it as fabricated to justify false claims.

Amagbein also called on his supporters to continue backing the Tinubu-led administration, citing numerous developmental projects across the Niger Delta region as evidence of the government’s commitment to the area.

Ex-militant raises alarm over alleged plan to link him to oil bunkering

Mr Endurance Amagbein, Niger Delta ex-agitator and the self-styled “General,” on Saturday, raised alarm over alleged plan by some persons to link him to the illegal oil bunkering activities in the region.

Amagbein made this known on Saturday
in a statement issued by his assistant on media and publicity, Mr Mightywind Dudafa, to newsmen in Abuja.

According to him, my enemies who have vowed to bring me down at all costs are doing this to instigate the military against me once again for a crime I know nothing about.

The ex-freedom fighter said the creeks had been peaceful until these persons decided to trouble the existing peace in the Southern Ijaw communities.

“These surveillance contractors are infamous for laying false allegations against their perceived enemies so that the military can unknowingly help them neutralise the ones they are unable to take out by themselves.

“In their usual style, when they want to deal with any innocent person, all they do is come up with concocted allegations of bunkering activities against that person and instigate the military to arrest such innocent victims,” he alleged.

He further alleged that some of these persons had concluded arrangements to work against the interest of the military personnel who are genuinely securing the country’s national assets.

Amagbein, popularly called Adaka Boro the Second, therefore, called on the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, to investigate these claims so that peace could return to Southern Ijaw communities.

He also called on the CDS to beef up security activities “and re-route their rules of engagement, especially as it relates to their involvement with surveillance contractors in Bayelsa State so that they are not used as tools in the hands of the enemies of the nation.”

He equally called on President Bola Tinubu to pay attention to the matter, saying the same strategy was adopted against him (Amagbein) in Delta in 2024.

Endurance Amagbein, a former “freedom fighter” and the self-styled “General,” says the era of militancy and armed agitations in the Niger Delta is over.

He stated this on Monday in a statement issued by his media aide, Mr Mightywind Dudafa, in Abuja.

Amagbei, who alleged that there were fresh plans by some persons to attack military formations in the creeks of Bayelsa and pin it on him, said he would not relent in his clamour for peace in the region

He said nobody should give him a bad name to nail him for crimes he did not commit simply because he was once a militant.

He said he was not the only militant in the Niger Delta and that they didn’t go into militancy because of poverty, but to address the serious issues affecting the people of the region at that time.

He said their agitation then was to compel the Federal Government to pay attention to the oil bearing communities.

Amagbei commended President Bola Tinubu’s government on the efforts at making lives better in the region.

According to him, the administration of President Tinubu is doing so much to change the narratives of the people, and that nobody should portray me to be an enemy of the Federal Government and the service chiefs.
The ex-agitator said he is very appreciative of the sacrifices the service chiefs and all military personnel make to ensure there is peace in Nigeria, especially the present leadership led by Gen. Christopher Musa.
He condemned the planned attack, adding that an intelligence report at his disposal indicated moves by some persons who are bent on bringing him down at all cost to attack military men to pitch the armed forces against him once again.
He called on the leadership of the Ijaw National Congress (INC) to call those behind “this senseless acts” to order; saying that he is demoralised whenever he hears people accuse him of what he knows nothing about.

He also admonished all military personnel in the creeks of Bayelsa to be vigilant so they can live to enjoy the fruits of their labour.
Amagbein pray God to bless and protect all military personnel in Bayelsa who had denied themselves comfort just to serve their fatherland.
