PDP, NNPP dying at fantastic rate – GandujePublished

    By Samson Atekojo Usman

The National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr Umar Abdullahi Ganduje on Friday, said the opposition Peoples Democratic Part, PDP, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, are ‘dying at a fantastic rate’.

This is even as Ganduje and the Deputy Senate President, Senator Jibrin Barau received 2023 Atiku support groups in 19 Northern States to the APC in Abuja.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, who was a former Vice President to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was the Peoples Democratic Party presidential flag bearer that contested against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC in the 2023 general election.

The group under the aegis of the Coalition of Atiku Support Groups in the 19 Northern States in the 2023 general election announced their defection to the All Progressives Congress and surrendered their certificate of recognition to the APC National Chairman.

While addressing the decampees, Ganduje said even in the Anambra State forthcoming Governorship election, the Peoples Democratic Party was yet to have aspirants for screening which is the reason they are extending time for screening, boasting that opposition parties are dying and the APC is harvesting their members.

Five representatives of the groups, from each of the 19 Northern States and FCT attended the event, pledging to work for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during the 2027 general election.

The Coordinator of the Coalition, Hon Abubakar Malami, said, “Our groups comprise various strata of society— women, youths, students, traders, academics, and farmers, representing diverse religious and ethnic backgrounds.

“In the 2023 general election build-up, we mobilised our members across the nooks and crannies of the 19 Northern States and the FCT to campaign for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.”

Earlier in his speech, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, described their joining the party as the best thing as the nation was gradually moving towards the election year, adding that they would have equal opportunities like old members of the APC.

He described the development as a “big catch for the APC.

Barau said: “It’s a big catch. We are making a big catch today at our party. Mr. President is a very good man.

“He’s doing his best to reposition Nigeria so it will be turned into a land of prosperity. And it’s good that you understood that and have come to acknowledge what Mr. President is doing.”

He urged them to team up with Mr President in order to succeed in his effort to change the development trajectory of the nation.

“You are joining the APC family because it’s a family that cherishes hard work. And for us, we do not discriminate.

“Whoever comes into the party today has the same privileges, the same latitude to operate like someone who has stayed for years.

“The only difference is your hard work. What have you been able to do at the party? So if you do better, if you do well, you will even be recognised more than someone who has been around since the party’s inception,” he said.

Flag-Off of dualization of Benin-Ajaokuta road project, the realisation of tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda – TMV

    By Iyiola Olalere

The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has applauded President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the flag-off of the dualization of sections two to four of the Ekpoma-Auchi-Okpella-Okene-Ajaokuta expressway.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Chukwudi Enekwechi and Secretary Shadrach Sunday, TMV noted that the move has brought hope to motorists using the road linking Edo and Kogi states.

It said: “We note that the Minister of Works Senator Dave Umahi had, while flagging off the road project on behalf of President Tinubu, stated that the road construction was in line with the Tinubu administration’s commitment to “making roads across the country motorable”.

“We are of the view that with the flag off the dualization work, motorists moving to the western, eastern, and northern parts of the country would heave a sigh of relief. It will also enhance economic activities for residents of Kogi and Edo States living along the road corridor.

“We also want to remind Nigerians that this road project had been abandoned for several years since the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) years, despite huge capital allocations committed to it.

“We therefore commend the Works Minister for crystallizing the vision of President Tinubu through the construction of critical road infrastructure in the country.

“Over the years this road had been abandoned and became a source of inconvenience and frustration to road users, but finally the Tinubu administration is changing the narrative with emphasis on leaving a lasting legacy of quality roads.”

The group also urged Nigerians to continue to support the Tinubu administration in its efforts to rebuild the country’s road infrastructure.

Drop in food prices evidence of FG’s successful efforts to tackle food inflation- TDF*

    By Danladi Ahmed

The Democratic Front (TDF) has described the recent drop in food prices across the country as a reflection of the success of government efforts to stem the tide of food inflation.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Mallam Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group noted that the drop in food prices was a confirmation of its belief in the ongoing reforms.

TDF said: “We receive the heartwarming news about the significant drop in food prices across Nigeria as the beginning of the fulfilment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s promise to reduce headline inflation to 15% in 2025.

“It is on record that The Democratic Front (TDF) has consistently maintained in its advocacy that the sudden hike in the prices of food and other essential products will become a thing of the past, once the economic measures put in place by the Tinubu administration to boost food production complete their gestation circle.

“The success in reducing food prices in Nigeria, cannot be dismissed as an ordinary feat, given the hardship the high cost of food has inflicted on Nigerians, since the commencement of the ongoing economic reforms.

“We believe the President must be commended for putting national interest above self-interest, in driving the economy through the devastating headwinds to deliver results that are beyond the expectations and predictions of pundits and global financial institutions.

“The current drop in food prices remarkably underscores the fact that President Bola Tinubu is walking the talk on his vow to reduce headline inflation to 15% this year.

“We must admit that the momentum and progress achieved by this administration in the area of economy and security within a short period leaves us with a fantastic impression that is far beyond our comprehension.

“The Year-on-Year Increase in the nation’s GDP, and foreign reserve, the surge in foreign remittances, the reduction in insurgency, banditry, and other national security breaches as well as the improved daily oil production output are deliverables from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies and initiatives in the last 22 months.

“Without a doubt, the current socio-economic horizon in the country holds great promises and fulfilment for Nigerians. The progress report of the administration in less than two years, literally confirms the boom that the next two years portends in the area of job creation and concomitant wealth generation for the economy.”

The group also called on Nigerians to remain resolute and faithful in support of President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms.

  • Arabs back Egypt’s Gaza plan in rare unity, reject Trump’s relocation push

Arabs back Egypt’s Gaza plan in rare unity, reject Trump’s relocation push

    –  The adoption of Egypt’s reconstruction plan signals a unified Arab stance against Trump’s displacement proposal. Analysts say the plan serves both practical and political objectives. It reaffirms Gaza’s place within the Palestinian state while offering an Arab-led solution that aligns with international legitimacy resolutions.

CAIRO,  (Xinhua)/Flowerbudnews:   — At their recent emergency summit in Cairo on Tuesday, Arab leaders embraced Egypt’s Gaza non-displacement reconstruction plan as a “unified Arab plan” and a practical alternative to U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposal to relocate Gazans.

They dismissed Trump’s suggestion, and opposed U.S. and Israeli anti-Palestinian policies.

They rejected any form of displacement of the Palestinians, starvation policies and scorched earth tactics, attempts to alter the demographic makeup of Palestinian land, halting humanitarian aid to Gaza or closing relief crossings, Israeli aggression in the West Bank, as well as annexing parts of the West Bank under any guise.

Despite broad Arab and international support, the plan faces real challenges given the U.S.-Israeli stance and the massive 53 billion dollars in required funding.

    STRUCTURED PLAN, STRATEGIC SHIFT

Egypt’s reconstruction roadmap for Gaza is structured into three phases over five years, with an estimated total cost of 53 billion U.S. dollars.

The adoption of Egypt’s reconstruction plan signals a unified Arab stance against Trump’s displacement proposal. Analysts say the plan serves both practical and political objectives.

It reaffirms Gaza’s place within the Palestinian state while offering an Arab-led solution that aligns with international legitimacy resolutions.

“Egypt’s plan confirms that Gaza is an integral part of the Palestinian state and will be rebuilt in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions,” said Ezzat Saad, director of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.

He stressed that the plan does not ignore Gaza’s deteriorating security, as it includes training for Palestinian security cadres for stability in Gaza and requires a UN Security Council resolution to deploy peacekeeping forces.

The plan also enjoys rare Arab unity, with all 22 nations standing against Trump’s displacement proposal.

Hani Al-Masri, director of the Ramallah-based Masarat Center for Research and Studies, called the plan “a positive step” in practically opposing displacement and offering a clear alternative to U.S.-Israeli proposals.

    MULTIPLE CHALLENGES

While the Egyptian plan offers a structured alternative to forced displacement, its success depends on international political will, as Arab states alone cannot implement it, said experts.

Saad explained that the 53-billion-dollar funding estimate aligns with UN projections, and that resources will be raised at an international donor conference in Cairo next month.

The reconstruction cost reflects the extent of devastation in Gaza. Although Arab and European nations are expected to contribute, experts say that securing funding remains uncertain.

Jordanian lawyer and writer Muhammad al-Subaihi warned that financing would likely fall solely on Gulf states as Europe and the United States remain financially strained due to the Ukraine crisis.

The plan assumes a ceasefire, but Israel appears set to escalate rather than withdraw. Without firm guarantees to halt displacement and secure a lasting ceasefire, implementation faces significant hurdles.

“Therefore, any discussion of reconstruction remains meaningless without addressing the core issue — ending the war and lifting the siege on Gaza,” said Al-Masri, Masarat’s director.

“There is no sign that Arab backing for the plan will change Washington or Tel Aviv’s stance. Trump has not retracted his displacement plan; rather, his administration and Israel quickly opposed the Egyptian proposal,” he noted.

    HAMAS’S ROLE

One of the most contentious issues surrounding the plan is Hamas’s role in Gaza’s future governance.

Egypt’s proposal envisions a technocratic administration overseeing reconstruction, signaling a potential power shift in Gaza’s leadership.

“I believe the Egyptian plan will succeed in the absence of Hamas, which has issued clear statements indicating that it doesn’t mind withdrawing from the political scene,” Saad told Xinhua.

However, Israel’s demand for Hamas’s disarmament remains a major sticking point.

“Hamas will not leave Gaza or surrender its weapons, as that would mean its elimination,” Al-Subaihi, the Jordanian lawyer and writer, argued.

While Hamas’s exclusion may simplify diplomatic efforts, ignoring its influence on the ground complicates long-term political arrangements.

Echoing Al-Subaihi, Al-Masri said that Hamas is an active force on the ground, and any future arrangements in Gaza cannot take place without an understanding of it. “Hamas may not be part of a new government, but it cannot simply be ignored or eliminated,” he added.

JUST IN: Osun Governor Adeleke Drags Tinubu’s Minister to EFCC, Alleges $20m, N1.5bn Theft

    By Flowerbudnews

The Osun State Government has officially petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate former governor and current Minister of Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, over allegations of mismanaging a $20 million World Bank health grant.

The government led by Governor Ademola Adeleke accused Oyetola of financial misconduct, money laundering, and violations of the Public Procurement Act in handling funds meant to improve the state’s healthcare sector.

According to a petition dated March 7, 2025, Oyetola chaired a special Health Intervention Committee during his tenure as governor, which allocated the entire $20 million to renovate 320 primary healthcare centers across the state. However, the government claims that these contracts were awarded without proper bidding and instead given to individuals closely linked to the former governor, including cabinet members, government agency heads, and personal associates.

In the petition written by the government’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, it was stated, “In flagrant violations of the above clear provisions of the Public Procurement Act, 2007, Oyetola did not call for bidding as mandatorily required under the PPA, let alone allowing competition which would have afforded the state the best qualified contractors to handle the projects. Rather, the former governor in observing the provisions of the Act in breach, awarded the contracts to individuals who were either his cabinet members, head of one agency of government or the other, his proxies and cronies who claimed to have incorporated business names/inactive companies.”

The government further alleged that the beneficiaries of these contracts included businesses with no prior experience in construction, such as food vendors, salon operators, supermarket owners, and web designers. Among the companies named in the petition were Poshpreneurs Nig., allegedly owned by the children of former Head of Service Olowogboyega Oyebade; Dotfam Multiventures Ltd, linked to the siblings of a former APC State Chairman; The Ice Firms Nig. Ltd, reportedly owned by former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo Adeleke; and Afamoks Web International, which was allegedly linked to former Amotekun Field Commander, Amitolu Shittu. The state government claimed that these companies, lacking expertise in construction, executed substandard renovation works while still receiving full contract payments, leading to the misappropriation of the $20 million grant.

On the issue of money laundering, the petition alleged that over ₦1.5 billion was funnelled through the Osun chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) between January and October 2022. It named former ALGON Chairman, Abiodun Idowu, Secretary, Olubisi Oladosu, 28 former local government caretaker chairmen, and former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Yekeen Adebayo Adeleke, as key figures in the alleged scheme. The government further alleged that financial records showed a clear case of money laundering involving the past administration of Oyetola.

According to the petition, financial records indicated that large sums of money were repeatedly transferred from the ALGON account at Zenith Bank (Account Number: 1016607858) into the private account of Akeem Ibitoye, a local government employee and Director of Finance at Ejigbo Local Government. The government claimed that withdrawals ranging from ₦10 million to over ₦30 million per day were made in cash, with no evidence that the funds were used for any official government projects.

However, Adebayo Adeleke has dismissed the allegations, describing them as baseless.

He stated, “EFCC has not invited me, and I have not seen a copy of the petition for me to know what it is all about. If there is no proof, then the allegations are frivolous and of no stance.”

He further accused Governor Adeleke and the PDP of political persecution, saying, “I have become a thorn in the flesh of Governor Adeleke and the PDP, and I won’t be surprised if some baseless allegations are levied against me. Anyway, they think trying to dirty my white garment will make me keep mute about their fraudulent ways of governance.”

  • TSF COMMENDS TINUBU ON SURGE IN NIGERIA’S RIG COUNT, IMPROVED CRUDE PRODUCTION

TSF COMMENDS TINUBU ON SURGE IN NIGERIA’S RIG COUNT, IMPROVED CRUDE PRODUCTION

    By Danladi Ahmed

The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the remarkable progress in Nigeria’s oil sector, particularly in the significant increase in rig count from 19 to 40, with projections reaching 50.

In a statement signed by its Chairman Ahmad Sajoh and Secretary Afolabi Josiah, it argued that the achievement underscored the administration’s commitment to reviving Nigeria’s oil production capacity, strengthening economic resilience, and fostering national prosperity.

The group said: “The activation of oil rigs is akin to drilling new wells, signifying renewed investment and confidence in the sector. This development is a clear indicator that oil production is on the rise, and with the projected increase in rig count, Nigeria is set for enhanced crude oil output, translating to greater national revenue and economic stability.

“It is also noteworthy that the increase in operational rigs suggests a reduction in oil theft and pipeline vandalism, which have long hampered production. The administration’s strategic policies and decisive actions in curbing illegal activities in the sector are yielding positive results, allowing rigs to function optimally and contribute effectively to national output.

“The implications of this resurgence are far-reaching. With increased crude production, Nigeria stands to gain improved foreign exchange inflows, bolstering the Naira and easing the economic strain on citizens. The increased revenue stream will also facilitate more infrastructural development, job creation, and social investment programs aimed at alleviating hardship and improving the standard of living for Nigerians.

“We remain confident that with sustained reforms and proactive governance, Nigeria’s oil industry will regain its position as a key driver of economic growth and national prosperity.”

The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum also reaffirmed its call for continued support for the administration’s efforts in revitalizing the oil and gas sector.

  • Tinubu’s policies building capacity, creating opportunities in digital economy-TMSG

Tinubu’s policies building capacity, creating opportunities in digital economy-TMSG

    By Majeed Ishola

The Tinubu Media Support Group (TMSG) has said that President Bola Tinubu’s policies are building capacity and creating new opportunities in Nigeria’s digital economy and will facilitate global competition for the country.

The TMSG said in a statement signed by its Chairman Emeka Nwankpa and Secretary Dapo Okubanjo that expanding the digital economy ranks high in the administration’s goal of diversifying the economy through industrialization, technology, and innovation.

“One of the 8 priorities areas of the administration which it outlined on assuming office was to use technology and innovation to diversify the national economy.

“It is not surprising that in the last 20 months, President Tinubu has shown a commitment to boosting the country’s investment profile in the global digital community.

“There is an ongoing effort to ensure digital/broadband connectivity in all 774 local government council secretariats across the country. The Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy is also driving a $2 billion investment in 90,000 kilometres of fibre optic cables to ensure efficient nationwide broadband coverage.

“We believe that upon successful completion of this key project, Nigeria will have the third-longest fibre network in Africa after South Africa and Egypt.

“The Tinubu administration is also driving a 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) programme to upskill three million Nigerian youths in digital literacy and innovation through innovation incubators nationwide.

“And only a few days ago, the President pledged to remove all obstacles in the path of growth of Fintech companies such as Flutterwave in the digital economy sector, to enable them to become more dominant not only in Africa but also on the global stage.

“This emerged a few weeks after President Bola Tinubu held high-level discussions with Google CEO Sundar Pichai in Paris during which he reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to becoming a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and digital innovation.

“We recall that the talks centred around a strategic partnership between Nigeria and Google, with key areas including scalable cloud infrastructure, AI innovation and research, workforce development and cloud computing.

“All these initiatives are geared towards stamping Nigeria’s position as a top-tier tech hub especially as the country is home to several Africa’s leading startups and tech unicorns.

“And for the avoidance of doubt, the President disclosed that the country is building local capacity in AI, through Awarri Technologies, which according to him, is collaborating with the Federal Government to develop critical AI software infrastructure tailored to Nigeria’s unique cultural and linguistic landscape.

“Also noteworthy is that President Tinubu has directed the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy; the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), and the Federal Ministry of Environment to align regulations and tax frameworks to facilitate investment expansion in telecommunications and broadband infrastructure nationwide.

“And lest we forget, there is a Digital Economy Bill currently before the National Assembly which underlines the commitment of the Tinubu administration to the growth of that sector,” it added.

TMSG expressed optimism that when the Tinubu administration completes its first full term in office, Nigeria will have created a new generation of digital entrepreneurs as well as new job opportunities

  • Enugu Govt. trains 100 farmers from LG on Climate Smart Agriculture

Enugu Govt. trains 100 farmers from LG on Climate Smart Agriculture

    By Flowerbudnews

No fewer than 100 farmers from 17 local government councils in Enugu State have been trained on Climate Smart Agriculture to mitigate agricultural losses.

Declaring open the workshop on Downscaling of 2025 Seasonal Climate Prediction for Enugu State Farmers on Friday, Commissioner for Agriculture and Agro-industrialisation, Mr Patrick Ubru, said that participating farmers would be part of trainers meant to further stepdown the training.

According to him, the 100 registered farmers participating will serve as trainers and ambassadors for the dissemination of knowledge and best practices in the Climate Smart Agriculture to farmers in each of the 17 council areas.

“Their experiences and insights will be invaluable as we work together to implement these innovative agricultural strategies and step it down to each farmer and his or her farmland.

“Our mission to transform Enugu State into the food basket of Nigeria and an export hub is bolstered by robust partnerships with private investors.

“We have signed partnership agreements with the following private partners; Pragmatic Palm Ltd, Biosources and Technology Ltd, Ugwu Anama Farm, Fungtai Engineering Company LTD, Atletico Farm Concepts Ltd, Whit Rabbit Agro Concept Limited, and the National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN).

“More partners are in the pipeline for both rehabilitation of existing farms and establishment of new ones,” he said.

Ubru said that the state government, its partners and her people are cultivating vast areas of land and developing produce cities that would serve as centers of excellence in agriculture.

“These collaborations are essential as we strive to create value chains that not only enhance production but also improve the livelihoods of our farmers.

“Under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah, we envision a future where Enugu State is synonymous with agricultural prosperity.

“Our goal is to feed the people of Enugu and beyond while establishing our state as a key player in the national and international agricultural markets.

“Today’s event is not just about climate predictions; it is about equipping you, our farmers, with the knowledge and tools necessary to adapt to changing climatic conditions.

“In a world where climate change poses significant challenges to agriculture, we must stay informed and proactive,” he said.

The commissioner urged the participants to take full advantage of the workshop ; while engaging with the resource persons and information provided to implement best practices that enhance our state’s agricultural resilience.

Ubru expressed gratitude to farmers especially the youth and women, private partners, and stakeholders for their unrestingly commitments to the development of Enugu State.

Speaking, Mrs Glory Onyegbule, Director, Applied Meteorological Services in Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET), said that Enugu State according to 2025 rainfall prediction would have ample and long stratch of abundant rainfall between April and November.

“However, farmers should start planting when there must have been series of rainfall and the ground saturated with enough water. This should be so since most farmers in the state depend on rain feed (sustained) type of agriculture.

“This will ensure better and bumper food harvest for direct consumption, local market and foreign exchange earnings as well as reduce or eliminate losses due to wrong rainfall or climatic timing,” Onyegbule said.

Corroborating, Prof. Ifeanyi Enete, Director, Institute for Maritime Studies of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, said that adoption of Climate Smart Agriculture is current global best practice and it opens up better understanding of modern agriculture.

The Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Victor Ngwu, urged farmers in the state to adopt to the new learning and modify their farming practices to check losses and ensure constant profitability in their farming business.

Ngwu said that the workshop would be used to enlighten farmers on best agronomy, seedlings and planting/harvest periods as well as protection of crops and the farmer and his family againt harsh weather, disaters and sicknesses.

The workshop was organised by Enugu State Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-industrialisation in collaboration with NiMET.
