By Kehinde Isaac Kangan,

The report circulating about Egbas stakeholders rallying behind former Ambassador Tunji Ishola to take on anyone from Ogun West towards the 2027 gubernatorial bid is a joke taken too far at this era. How do I know? The upcoming gubernatorial election will be one of the most shocking elections we’ve seen so far in Ogun State.

As Ogun state’s eligible electorates have wised up beyond the era of one-man nominations or a few individuals teaming up to decide the fate of Ogun State’s thousands of eligible voters. In fact, it’s going to be a tsunami experience, reminiscent of the 2019 election, where a sitting governor was thoroughly humiliated after exhausting all avenues in a bid to impose their preferred candidate, not because of people’s hatred for the party or the candidate precisely, but due to an attempt to claim semi-god status. However, the people of Ogun State and mostly, West are fully prepared this time around to give it their best shot through the most popular candidate, and it’s going to shock everyone, as this is not going to be business as usual.
To anyone trying to impose with the so-called stakeholders, congratulations ahead for the humiliation awaiting.

It wouldn’t be a different case from the one where we once witnessed two primary elections conducted concurrently on separate occasions, showcasing how some individuals proved they are politically inclined during that period. Graciously enough, God’s will prevails through people’s mandates. In fact, during the election, a boastful claim was also made that “we will win” by omo eniyan, but since God is not a man, the outcome proved otherwise, beyond reasonable doubt.

In the forthcoming election, we’re eager to see how some self-proclaimed stakeholders will attempt to play God. The people of Ogun State are the type that place their hope in the God alone, not in any single individual with self interest in his candidate without considering masses’ feelings and fate for infrastructural developments when it comes to electioneering, as this has been proven on different accounts in past elections, believing that God is just and fair in the affairs of men.

This is just a token of reminder to those who see themselves as readymade impostors, and care to learn from antecedents don’t play God.
Thanks.
