UNICAL Appoints Prof. Eyo Mensah as New Dean of Students’ Affairs

Calabar (FLOWERBUDNEWS):  The University of Calabar has appointed the Director of the Bassey Andah Institute for African and Asian Studies, Prof. Eyo Offiong Mensah, as the new Dean of Students’ Affairs.

While an erstwhile Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr Obal Usang was announced as Deputy Dean, a statement by the Public Relations unit of the University disclosed.

Their appointments, which takes effect from January 1, 2026, is for a period of two (2) years and will run until December 31, 2028.

The announcement was contained in an official release signed by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Offiong Efanga Offiong, who charged the newly appointed Dean and Deputy Dean to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the diligent discharge of this new assignment.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the need for effective administration of their offices to ensure optimal productivity.

According to the release, Prof. Mensah and Dr Usang are expected to create a conducive academic and social environment that will enhance students’ learning experience, while also catering adequately to their welfare, well-being, and other related matters affecting students in the University.

As appointees of the Vice-Chancellor, they are further expected to align with the mission and vision of the current administration, while upholding the core values, standards, and expectations of the University at all times.
