FLOWERBUDNEWS: The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has warned the public against importation of any prohibited regulated products into the country.

NAFDAC Director General, Prof Mojisola Adeyeye gave the warning in a statement over the weekend on the smuggling into the country of prohibited regulated products, especially banned food products.

She statef that NAFDAC has intensified its regulatory actions in response to the growing influx of prohibited food products into Nigerian markets.

Prof. Adeyeye said that the Agency had observed a disturbing rise in the smuggling, sale, and distribution of pasta, noodles, sugar, and tomato paste, all of which are expressly listed on the Customs Prohibition List and are not permitted for importation into the country.

In response to the growing circulation of prohibited regulated products across markets in the country, the Agency has issued an important public notice and enforcement directive to all stakeholders.

Below is a press release outlining the actions required of importers, distributors, retailers, and other operators, as well as the implications for non-compliance.
