The attention of the management of Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun State, has been drawn to a report of shootings within the Polytechnic environment, which is presently trending on different social media platforms.

Setting the record straight, it is imperative to inform the general public that while we are not unaware of pockets of violence in some isolated parts of Odo-Eja axis of the town on Monday, 3rd November, 2025, this development, however , has nothing to do with the Polytechnic Community.

The purported shootings within the polytechnic environment is simply the mere imagination of the rumour peddlers, and is highly baseless and hugely unfounded, as it has nothing to do with the ongoing students’ union elections.

Consequently, members of the public are hereby advised to disregard the latest charade and illogical rumour capable of causing confusion within the citadel, especially in the minds of parents and guardians, please, be rest assured that management will not relent in its social responsibility to secure the Polytechnic environment from any threat.

In addition, members of the Polytechnic Community are hereby enjoined to go about their normal duties unhindered as necessary security measures have been put in place before, during and after the election of the students’ Union Leadership (SUL) and any members of staff/ public who does not have business with the ongoing elections of students’ leadership should please stay clear from the arena.

Lastly, students are warned to be law abiding and adhere strictly to the rules and extant law, as anyone caught disturbing public order will be summarily dealt with in accordance with the law of the Polytechnic.

To be forwarned is to be forarmed
