Federal Polytechnic Ayede’s Deputy Rector Earns PhD

The Rector of Federal Polytechnic Ayede in Oyo State, Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, has extended heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Azeez Olasunkanmi Ojo, the institution’s Deputy Rector (Academic), for successfully achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Peace and Development Studies from the University of Ilorin in Kwara State, Nigeria.

In an announcement released by the Acting Director of Information, Communication and Public Relations, Mr. Sunday Adepoju, Dr. Abdul-Hameed lauded Dr. Ojo’s academic accomplishment as “a remarkable achievement that reflects his dedication, perseverance, and passion for knowledge.” He emphasized that Dr. Ojo’s scholarly endeavors serve as an inspiration to both staff and students at the rapidly developing institution.

Dr. Ojo is recognized as the inaugural Deputy Rector (Academic) of Federal Polytechnic Ayede and boasts over 30 years of distinguished service within the Nigerian Polytechnic system, having previously worked at Federal Polytechnic Ede, Osun, before his current position which he assumed in 2022.

Dr. Ojo began his academic journey with a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree in English from Obafemi Awolowo University (now Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti) in 1987. He earned a Master’s Degree in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan, followed by another Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies from the same institution. To further enhance his expertise, he completed yet another Master’s Degree in Peace and Development Studies at the University of Ilorin, culminating in his PhD focused on Peace Journalism, specifically on the news framing of security challenges.

Throughout his career at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Dr. Ojo advanced from Lecturer III to Chief Lecturer within the Department of General Studies. Since his appointment at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, he has significantly contributed to the institution’s growth by serving in various leadership roles, including Head of the Department of General Studies and Dean of the School of Management Sciences, in addition to his current role as Deputy Rector (Academic).

Dr. Ojo has actively participated in several key committees, including the Governing Council and the Academic Board, further underscoring his commitment to the advancement of the institution. Rector Abdul-Hameed commended Dr. Ojo for his unwavering commitment to academic excellence and institutional development, highlighting him as a “shining example of hard work and intellectual pursuit whose achievements will continue to motivate others in the academic community.”
