CALMHAF Foundation fetes, appreciates teachers of Special Education Centre, Enugu
The Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation (CALMHAF) has feted and appreciated special teachers of Special Education Centre, Ogbete, Enugu for their exceptional resilience and commitment all these years.
The teachers were presented with free airtime (worth thousands of naira), free academic materials such as branded pens and exercise books, rulers and hand fans as well as a sumptuous meal and a Teachers’ Day cake.
Presenting the items on Wednesday in Enugu at the centre, Founder of the Foundation, Rev. Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu, expressed gratitude for the teachers’ selfless service to the children with speech and hearing impairments.
According to Nwachukwu, your dedication to these children is truly inspiring. God is your ultimate rewarder, and we are committed to doing even more to support you in your noble work.
“This Teachers’ Appreciation Day celebration at this centre is a powerful reminder of the importance of recognising and supporting educators who dedicate their lives to children with special needs.
“The partnership between Foundation’s Support for Caregivers Initiative (SCGI) and MTN Eastern Region exemplified a shared commitment to uplifting these unsung heroes.
“To all special education teachers: We see you. We celebrate you. We thank you,” Nwachuklwu, who is also the Executive Director of the Foundation, said.
Corroborating, Mrs Uzoamaka Nwachukwu, co-Founder of the Foundation, appreciated the teachers’ resilience; adding: “Despite the difficult working conditions, these educators demonstrate remarkable strength and dedication.”
Speaking, the General Manager, MTN Eastern Region, Mr Callima Inino, commended the educators for their critical role in shaping lives and building the nation.
Inino, represented by a Manager, Mr. Cyril Odum, emphasised that every individual in society had been influenced by a teacher’s guidance.
“Your work is transformative, and your impact on these children and our nation is immeasurable,” he said.
Responding, the Headmistress of the Primary Section of the Special Education Centre, Mrs Virginia Eze, lauded CALMHAF Foundation for its consistent support, while reminding the teachers of their vital role in nation building.
“You are not just teachers; you are lifelines to special children who need more love, patience, and understanding than most people around us,” Eze said.
The Principal of the Secondary Section of the Special Education Centre, Mrs Zita Oba, lauded the CALMHAF foundation’s impactful contributions.
“Cope and Live has been a beacon of support for our school, consistently providing resources, encouragement, and mental health advocacy that empower our teachers to thrive in challenging circumstances,” Oba said.
The event, which featured mental health awareness talk and inspirational speeches among others, was in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day held on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2025.
