NELFUND: FEDPOLY EDE HAILS TINUBU, DESCRIBES IT AS REVOLUTION IN EDUCATION
The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Engr Dr. Sani Man Yahaya, fnse has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his foresight and ingenuity in the introduction of National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) saying the initiative has revolutionalized the education sector.
The Rector made the commendation in an interactive session with Journalists in his office, saying the scheme has expanded access to quality education among Nigerian students, especially indigent students of low means of survival.
Engr Dr. Sani Man Yahaya told the newsmen that with the introduction of Nelfund, no students would be deprived of higher education again as a result of financial constraints.
The Rector expressed his conviction about the potency of the initiative and many other reforms of the Federal Government in transforming all sectors, especially the education sector, with resultant goals of nation-building and egalitarian Nigerian society.
Reeling out the analysis of disbursement among the students of the Polytechnic, Engr Dr. Sani Man Yahaya disclosed that two batches of payment have been received by the institution.
He explained that in the 2023/2024 academic session, 583 students benefited from the loans, amounting to #34, 769,341.10, also in 2024/2025, a total of 969 Students received a sum of #65,453,430.00 from NELFUND. The Rector expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government while assuring the students’ populace that the process of disbursement is still ongoing
He, therefore, advised beneficiaries of the Nelfund loans to reciprocate this good gestures of the Federal Government by ensuring an hitch free academic session in the institution, charging them to be a good ambassador of the school where ever they found themselves
In a related development, the Chairman, Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Prof Taiwo Akanbi Olaiya, Esq, on 26th June, 2025 presented a refurbished Toyota HIACE BUS to the Students Union Leadership (SUL), a move many observers described as laudable step in complementing the efforts of the Federal Government to bring succour to the students populace.
Meanwhile, cross sections of students have applauded the development as a pragmatic way of giving the students a sense of belongings and also strengthening their association for quality contributions to the development of the institution.
