No fewer than 204 residents of Enugu metropolis have benefitted from The Cornerstone Church (TCC) free and comprehensive medical outreach in Enugu.
The medical outreach covered free blood pressure and sugar test, medical consultations and counseling, free drugs, eyeglasses, dental care, insecticide treated nets and health awareness talk among others.

Flagging off the outreach on Sunday at the TCC Headquarters, Enugu, the General Overseer of the Church, Dr Ngozi Murphy-Okpala, said that the medical outreach was meant to provide assistance for ailing persons in Enugu.
Murphy-Okpala said the event was also held in memory of the Church’s Founder, Rev. Murphy Okpala, who died in 2024.

According to her, what we are doing today is actually what we have been doing for many years now as a Church to fulfil our missionary mandate.
“We have existed for more than ten years and every year we create time to be a blessing to the community in different ways, and this medical outreach is one of them,” she said.

She explained that it was one of the Church’s goals to look out for areas where “the needs of the society are unmet,” and assist with basic services in those areas.
Murphy-Okpala noted that healthcare in the country was seriously challenged and required support from well-meaning individuals and organisations.
She said that the outreach also included: free referral for people with more serious health conditions and distribution of medical lenses.

One of the beneficiaries of the outreach, Mr Solomon Nnaji, said that he was diagnosed with glaucoma and given some drugs and eye drops.
“I am grateful to The Cornerstone Church for bringing help to me and others who need it and cannot afford the medical expenses,” Nnaji said.

Another beneficiary, Ma Regina Okafor, said that she was having a “very bad toothache” that made chewing both painful and difficult for her.
“So, the dentist here washed my entire mouth and gave me some drugs. I was also given free eyeglasses to improve my sight,” Okafor said.

The event also featured deworming of children of school age.
