The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has awarded accreditation to the Centre for Skills Acquisitions and Entrepreneurship Development (CSAED) at Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo State, recognizing it as a Skills Training Centre. This significant milestone reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing vocational and technical education across Nigeria.

The approval was communicated in a letter dated July 28, signed by Engr. S. M. Yusuf, Director of Vocational, Technical, and Skills Development. It followed a comprehensive verification exercise by NBTE. Located in Onipanu along the Ogbomosho axis, CSAED is now authorized to operate under the Nigerian Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) and will offer training in seven key entrepreneurial skills, including:

As an accredited Skills Training Centre (STC), CSAED will enroll trainees for the Entrepreneurship Skills Program, part of the ongoing Federal Ministry of Education’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative. Under the NSQF structure, trainees will be assessed by the Sectoral Awarding Body, with nationally recognized certificates issued by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).

This development has been positively received by stakeholders in the technical education sector, recognized as a crucial step to expanding access to job-relevant training, reducing youth unemployment, and empowering communities through entrepreneurship and self-reliance.

The leadership of Federal Polytechnic Ayede, particularly Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, has received accolades for its proactive role in the establishment and accreditation of the Centre. The Rector expressed gratitude to NBTE for enhancing Nigeria’s skill development ecosystem, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to providing quality and practical education for Nigerian youth.

Communication of the Centre’s accreditation has been shared with national bodies including NABTEB, the Institute of Tourism Professionals, the Nigerian Institute of Building, and Skills Nigeria Company Ltd. for further coordination and oversight.

With this accreditation, the CSAED is positioned as a dynamic hub for vocational training, skills acquisition, and economic empowerment, offering opportunities to both young Nigerians and adult learners to develop job-ready competencies.

Director of the Centre, Oluwaseun Owojori, expressed gratitude to the Rector and management for their unwavering support throughout the accreditation process. He also praised the CSAED team, comprising Mr. Salisu Sakariyahu and Mr. Slyvester Eye, for their efforts in achieving this landmark approval.
