FLOWERBUDNEWS: The Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ayede, Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed has commended President Bola Tinubu’s several initiatives geared towards development of skilled workforce to drive the nation’s economic growth and innovation.
Dr. AbdulHameed was speaking at the recent international conference on entrepreneurship and skill acquisition sponsored by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (Tetfund) in conjunction with Gambia University.
FLOWERBUDNEWS news recall the entrepreneurship conference, which was held at Cocoa Ocean Hotel Beach, Gambia, was also attended by several personalities, including the Vice Chancellor, Nigerian Army University Biu(NAUB), Prof. Buratai; Dean of the Faculty of Social Science NAUB, Prof. Kolawole Subair and the Registrar NAUB, Brig.-Gen. Abdulhamid among others.
The Rector stressed that the Tinubu’ administration’s initiatives in the technical education sector, were already yielding positive results and would lead Nigeria to higher prosperity..
Dr. AbdulHameed also lauded the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, for aligning with the skill-acquisition and youth entrepreneurship development initiative of President Tinubu’s
Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Rector acknowledged Dr. Alausa’s encouragement and support which is helping institutions, especially, his Federal Polytechnic Ayede, record remarkable achievements the innovation, youth skill empowerment and entrepreneurship.
Dr. AbdulHameed said that the with the Tinubu administration initiatives, ”It is expected that a polytechnic graduate, at the end of studies, will tend towards job creations rather than job seekers.”
Effective adoption of the government’s several initiatives would particularly help to guide Polytechnics into producing skilled workforce to drive economic growth and innovation, the Rector stated.
Dr. AbdulHameed also commended the TETFund under the leadership of Arc. Sonny Echono, for providing support for the programmes that were strengthening vocational and technical education in the country.
The Rector noted that TETFund support and interventions, which focussed on several developmental areas, including training and provision of modern facilities, was helping Federal Polytechnic, Ayede in particular, to become a hub for innovation and youth technological empowerment.
Dr. AbdulHameed also appreciated the efforts of the Executive Secretary(ES), National Board for Technical Education, Prof. Idris Bugaje, for his efforts towards repositioning vocational and technical education through industry-aligned curricula which is fostering innovation and technological progress for Nigeria.
