His Royal Majesty, Dr. Ahmed Awuni Babalola Arepo III, the Elese of Igbaja, has conferred chieftaincy titles on distinguished sons and daughters in recognition of their selfless service and contributions to the development of the community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Among the honourees was Mrs. Fatimah Ajibola Ayankemisola Sanni-Omotosho (née Dosunmu), who was installed as the Chief Iyalaje of Igbaja-Irese land. The Iyalaje title is traditionally bestowed on women who promote commerce, development, and unity. Her installation was celebrated as a landmark moment for women in the town, symbolising a broader acknowledgment of their leadership roles in economic and social advancement.

Also honoured were Mr. and Mrs. Olakunle Mufutau Ajiboye, who received the titles of Chief Otunba Atunluse and Yeye Otunba Atunluse of Igbaja-Irese land, respectively. Their elevation was seen as a well-deserved tribute to their support for peace, unity, and progress in the community.

The colourful event drew dignitaries from within and outside Kwara State, including the Deputy Governor, Elder Kayode Alabi, and other notable guests from the diaspora.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor urged the new chiefs to live up to the rresponsibilities of the titles confer and continue to serve as development advocates in the region.

He encouraged the titleholders to mentor youths and contribute meaningfully to community growth and development.

Speaking at the ceremony, the new Iyalaje expressed gratitude and reaffirmed her commitment to the economic upliftment of Igbaja.

She outlined plans to empower women through entrepreneurship, skills development, and support for local businesses, while also promoting cultural tourism and community partnerships.

“I’m deeply honoured by this title.

“It’s a privilege to serve Igbaja. I pledge to foster unity, drive development, and uphold our cultural legacy,” she said.

Alhaja Muiba Shade Aribidesi and Mrs. Arinola Aroyehun both described the Iyalaje’s investiture as timely and well-deserved, given her long-standing dedication to the town’s development. They, along with many others, wished the Iyalaje and the Otunba couple success in their new roles.
