FLOWERBUDNEWS: The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd) has called on the new Board members of the Commission to be ready to account for their stewardship at any time.
He made the call on Tuesday in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom, at an induction programme of the Commission with the theme: “Enhancing The Key Standards of Corporate Governance.”
He said that personal and parochial interests must not take precedence over that of the Commission and the interests of the citizens.
DIG Argungu also spoke on Accountability and Transparency, adding that transparency must be recognised as core principles of good governance.
“Transparency promotes openness of action in the decision making process and consultative processes with relevant stakeholders,” he said.
Argungu also reminded the participants that the PSC Governing Board members in their dealings with others “shall handle all transactions with a forthright, frank and open manner”.
He said Governance arrangement and systems needed to be streghtened as part of the drive to improve management in parastatals.
Similarly, DIG Taiwo Lakanu, who chaired the second stanza of the programme assured the management staff of the Commission that the new Board would ensure effective and efficient delivery on its mandate.
Lakanu said the new Board would also consult with relevant authorities to ensure that the Commission got its deserving entitlements and respect in the performance of its constitutional mandate.
The induction programme would end April 30.
