Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has announced a donation of N20 million each to patients and staff of the Uniosun Teaching Hospital (UNIOSUNTH), with a promise to recruit more staff for the hospital to enhance optimal service delivery.
The governor, who made the announcement after inspecting some of the facilities in the hospital, also directed the immediate installation of solar lights in the hospital environment.
He said, “I want to appreciate the management of this hospital. This hospital is the last hope of our people, and I want to thank the staff for doing a great job.”
“I am also pledging my administration’s commitment to improving healthcare service delivery in the state.”
“I’m giving out N20 million each to the patients and staff of this hospital while I’m also directing the immediate installation of solar lights to illuminate the hospital.”
“On the shortage of staff, I want to assure you that we will look into it. We don’t want to recruit people we won’t be able to pay their salary. So, we will study the situation and come up with a way to go about it, but I can assure you we will recruit more staff.”
In his remarks, the Board Chairman of the hospital, Barrister Niyi Owolade, described the governor as a true light and requested more support for the hospital while still steering the ship of the state. He also gave kudos to the governor for his incessant contributions to the advancement of the hospital.
He said, “I want to appreciate the people’s governor for his continuous support for this hospital. You are truly the light, and we are hopeful that more good things are coming to this hospital during your time.”
Also, the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Babatunde Afolabi, commended the governor for his humanitarian services since he became the governor of the state.
He appreciated the governor for the extended gestures to the hospital and pledged to work hand in hand with his administration to make the hospital and the state more vibrant.
The Chief Medical Director, however, sought the provision of modern equipment and more staff, among other things, from the governor, to be able to perform effectively.
