Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State officially reinstated Oba Williams Alabi, Ogundare II, as the Asundunrin of Isundunrin after a 27-year hiatus.

The ceremony, held at Baptist Primary School, Isundunrin in Ejigbo Local Government, marked the monarch’s return after his initial removal by the Supreme Court in 1997. Oba Alabi, who was first installed in 1985 and ruled for 12 years, was removed because his ruling house was not next in line.

However, following the nomination by his ruling house on August 19, 2024, he was reinstated after the demise of his predecessor, Oba Alimi Gbadegesin.

According to report from Vanguard, the event drew dignitaries, including the Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Omowonuola Oyeyode Oyesosin II, and the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Afolabi.

Represented by Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Dosu Babatunde, Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to preserving Osun State’s cultural heritage and supporting traditional institutions. He urged the community to collaborate with his government in advancing development.

Dr. Akeem Agboola, Chairman of the Coronation Committee, praised the governor’s leadership and people-focused initiatives, highlighting his transformative impact on communities.

Agboola commended Adeleke’s balance of political strategy and meaningful governance, noting his growing legacy in public service.

In his address, Oba Alabi called for peace, unity, and prioritization of education among community members. He emphasized the role of education in nurturing future leaders and urged parents to instill moral values in their children.

Additionally, he appealed to the governor to address infrastructural challenges, including the rehabilitation of the Isundunrin-Araromi-Masifa and Ejigbo-Iwo roads, to ease transportation and enhance local connectivity.
