Tinubu Scores Another Unprecedented 1st, Awards Contract for a Calabar-Abuja SuperHighway

Abuja (FLOWERBUDNEWS): President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government has awarded contract for the construction of a SUPERHIGHWAY to link Nigeria’s coastal city of Calabar to the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Flowerbudnews reports that the news of the signing of the contract was broken by the Honourable Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi through a statement titled :

”THE IMPORTANCE OF THE RENEWED HOPE LEGACY PROJECT; THE CALABAR- EBONYI-BENUE- KOGI- NASARAWA- ABUJA SUPERHIGHWAY TO THE SOCIO-ECONOMIC ADVANCEMENT OF NIGERIA,” a copy of which was made available to FLOWERBUDNEWS on Friday.

”THE AWARD OF SECTION I (118.85KM) CRISSCROSSING COMMUNITIES OF EKE MARKET, ABAOMEGE, ONUEKE, ACHIAGU, UMUOGHARA/ONU NWAFOR, UKWUACHI, ISHIEKE, ODOMOKE BEFORE TERMINATING AT MBEKE IN EBONYI STATE.

The statement disclosed that the award had stimulated the enthusiasm of all the communities within the 482- kilometre Legacy project of the renewed hoke administration.

It noted that President Tinubu was inspired by the vision to build legacy projects that will connect the agricultural, trade, tourism, hospitality and industrial corridors and foster socio-economic and cultural integration among the diverse regional and sub- regional nationalities.

The President has already initiated four (4) projects of unprecedented landmarks in the history of Africa, namely, the 750 km Lagos – Calabar Coastal Highway, the 1068 km Sokoto – Badagry Super Highway, the 482 km Calabar – Abuja Superhighway and the 439km Akwanga – Jos – Bauchi – Gombe Highway.

The Calabar – Ebonyi – Benue – Kogi- Nasarawa – Abuja Superhighway which is a multi-lane route beginning from the spur of Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway in Cross River State

The Calabar Abuja superhighway is crossing Enugu – Abakaliki – Ogoja (Trans-Saharan Highway) at Ebonyi State and tranversing through Benue State, Kogi State (crossing River Benue at Bagana in Kogi State to Nasarawa State and ending at Apo in Abuja.

It stated that the multi-lane road will be six (6) lanes, three (3) lanes on each side to be separated with beautiful median landscaping with street light and median digital signage.

” This road project has about 1.35 km length of River Benue bridge at Bagana and 400 m length of bridge over Ebom river in Cross River State among other smaller bridges, overpasses, interchanges and other road features along the alignment,” the statement said.

It also noted that the road, when completed, would reduce the travel time by road users and provide the shortest and fastest route from South – South through South East to Abuja.

”This will bring about the emergence of new cities and infrastructural development along the corridor,

”it will not only boost socio-economic activities and development along the corridor but will also link the export processing zone in Calabar and have international connection with the Republic of Cameroon,” the state on the project stated . (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
