(Governor Ademola Adeleke, Product of EdecMuslim Grammar School)

Ede (Osun) (FLOWERBUDNEWS): Old students of the famous Ede Muslim Grammar School, fondly called, ”EMGS” on Monday held a Special Prayer session to formally mark the 50th founders Day of the prestigious school.
Flowerbudnews recall that the school, was established by the Ede Muslim Council on October 21st, 1974 and commenced academic activities from a borrowed classroom structure near today’s permanent site.
Ede Muslim Grammar school is also the alma mater of the Executive Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking at the prayer session, Sheikh Ibrahim Tijani Adekilekun, one of the surviving founding fathers of the school, urged the old students to continue to contribute to the growth of the institution from where they all acquired the basic knowledge that has made them successful in different areas of human endeavour.
Sheikh Adekilekun, who is Chief Imam of Ansaru Deen of Edeland, recalled the history of EMGS, stating that the institution was established to cater for the educational to of the children of the teeming Muslim community of the ancient town of Ede.
Ede is a predominantly Muslim town with a over 90% of its indigenes and inhabitants being Muslims.
Sheikh Adekilekun recalled the contributions of other founding fathers of the school, including late Alhaji (Hon) Idrees Oyewale, whom he noted made tremendous contributions to the establishment and growth of the school.
He also acknowledged the contributions of late Alhaji Yisa Yagboyaju, a long-time president of Ede descendant union.
The Chief Imam also recalled other prominent personalities associated with the success of the school, including Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, the pioneer Principal and others, including former Principal, Ahmed Olatunji.
The Islamic Scholar urged the old students to do good wherever they are assuring that ALLAH (GOD) always reward goodness on this world and in the life to come.
Sheikh Adekilekun also commended Governor Ademola Adeleke for the good work he is doing in Osun state. The Chief Imam recalled that it was the documental evidence from EMGS that stopped the educational lies against Governor Adeleke while he was contesting.
The Chief Imam said that the history of EMGS is very unique, noting that with great personalities the school has produced, including Governor Adeleke, National Assembly members, Honorable Commissioners, such as Alh. Majeed Biola Lawal, former Osun State Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports and Culture, who is also a former Acting Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), several Permanent Secretaries , several 2Professors, Doctorate Degree Holders and very many successful businessmen and women, no school in Ede had an enviable history like EMGS.
Sheikh Adekilekun also eulogised the Adeleke Dynasty, saying ”only ALLAH knows what good deed late Senator Raji Adeleke (the projenitor of the Adeleke family), performed that pleased ALLAH so much that the history of his family had also become unique,”.
He prayed that one day, Ede Muslim Grammar School would produce a President for Nigeria.
Also speaking at the prayer event, the President of the EMGS Old Students Association, Alhaji Tunde Bello thanked the old students for their support.
He noted the good work done by the 50th anniversary celebration committee chaired by Alhaji Taofiq Kola Alimi, and assured that they will always be appreciated.
Those present at the prayer session included the First Senior Ptefect of the school, Alhaji Mutolib Asifa, Chairman, Ede Muslim Council, Dr. Idris Sekoni, Dr. Kazeem Olalekan, the current Principal of EMGS AbdulKabir Adekomi, a former principal, Moshoof Adesokan, Engr. The Grand finale of the EMGS 50th anniversary celebration will hold at a later date. Governor Adeleke is expected to attend the finale. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
