Inaugurates New Exco for NTAC’s Cooperative Society

Abuja (Flowerbudnews): Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps,Rt Hon.Yusuf Buba Yakub has said that one of the best ways to achieve objectives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s many incentives to Nigerian workers is through the establishment of Multipurpose Cooperative Societies in Government offices.
Buba stated this on ,Wednesday, in Abuja at a ceremony to inaugurate the newly elected members of the NTAC Multipurpose Cooperative Society, a statement by Nkem Anyata-Lafia
Special Assistant to the DG, NTAC( Media and Publicity) disclosed.
The NTAC Boss said that such schemes for acquiring houses and accessing sundry loans initiated by President Tinubu for civil servants to enable them perform well in their jobs.
He said that it would also help them to shun corruption, and would greatly deliver on the noble intentions of Mr President if the system of establishin
g Cooperative Societies across the country was employed.
While promising the support of the NTAC Management to the newly inaugurated leadership of the Cooperative Society, the NTAC boss said the Agency had decided to key into the noble objectives of President Tinubu for workers by inaugurating the new executive,which had emerged after going through the democratic process among the Agency’s staff.
Buba further informed:
“This is the first time they have increased the minimum wage to seventy thousand Naira and for it to be reviewed every three years;it used to be five years.
” President Tinubu has specifically stated that,to enable workers to perform very well without indulging in corruption you need to have housing schemes through the mortgage system;you need to have credit schemes where workers can access loans easily and have other day-to-day needs met without really depending on their salaries.
With regards to the newly elected leaders for the Cooperative,the former federal lawmaker also added:
“We have happily inaugurated them today and the Management will give them all the necessary support to see that the welfare of workers in this organization is well taken care of.
“Just like the Chairman of the Cooperative has mentioned,we will move into a transport system so that we will,at least,help bring them to work before the Cooperative will be well-rooted to be able to tap into the loan system for them to have the things they need.”
Earlier,while presenting the newly inaugurated members of the executive for their swearing-in,Amb.Yakubu Abdullahi Ahmed,the NTAC Director of Administration,who was represented by one of his officers,Mr Samuel Etefia, thanked the Agency’s DG for making what had,hitherto,been seen as impossible a reality.
Following the successful inauguration of members of the new executive,Buba emphasized the importance of workers’ welfare in both the public and private sectors.He also stressed the necessity of constant communication in managing their followers by the elected leaders,tasking the leaders to carry all staff along in their programmes and to brace up to the challenges that come with leadership,while also informing that leading humans is not a luxury party,but expressed optimism that the tenure of the maiden leadership,led by Mr Martin Ogbonna, would be highly successful.
Presenting his inaugural address, Chairman of the newly inaugurated executive,Mr Martin Ogbonna, pledged to do his best to move the body forward. He thanked the DG,the Management as well as the entire staff of the Corps for their support and commitment to all the processes leading to the election and the resulting inauguration of those elected.He called on them to support his programmes, including training, involvement in farming ,businesses as well as the acquisition of land and provision of buses for the Cooperative Society and its members.
Among those inaugurated were Martin Ikechukwu Ogbonna (Chairman),Mercy Chama Anuhu(Vice Chairman) and Faith Omotayo Jesufemi( Secretary).Others were Uzoamaka Scholastica Ohaeri(Treasurer) and Barnabas Yerima(Public Relations Officer).
The occasion was also graced by the Director of Programmes at NTAC,Amb.Zakari Usman;the Assistant Director for Accounts,Mr Idris Saidu Yusuf,as well as Mr Lawandy Bala, Special Assistant to the DG on Protocol Matters and Mr Abdulkadir Iliyasu,Esq.,Special Assistant to the DG on Legal Matters,who conscientiously administered the oath of office on all the inaugurated members of the executive of the body.
Part of the highlights of the event was the handing-over ceremony of the registration documents of the Cooperative Society to the new Chairman of the group, Martin Ogbonna,by the former place-holder,Mr Samuel Etefia.
The new executive will serve for two years.
