The Oyo State Government, through the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, is collaborating with traditional adherents to celebrate the Isese Festival this year.
This effort aims to showcase, promote, develop, and preserve the state’s heritage.
In August 2023, Governor Seyi Makinde declared August 20 as an annual public holiday in honor of Isese Day, which traditional adherents had previously set aside as a day of worship.
The Isese Festival will be celebrated in all zones of Oyo State on the following dates:
– August 10, 2024 – Oke-Ogun Zone
– August 12, 2024 – Ogbomoso Zone
– August 14, 2024 – Ibarapa Zone
– August 16, 2024 – Oyo Zone
The Grand Finale will take place at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, on August 20, 2024.
Traditionalists will converge to pray for peace, unity, and stability for Oyo State and Nigeria.
Additionally, the World Sango Festival will be celebrated in grand style in Oyo Zone from August 8-17, 2024.
This festival was recently included in the UNESCO Representative List for Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
