Calabar (Flowerbudnews): The New Chancellor and Chairman of the University of Calabar Governing Council, DIG Udom Ekpoudom (Rtd) has vowed to combat examination malpractices with full force.

Udom Ekpodom, who is the 14th Chancellor of UNICAL stated this at the Senate Chamber of the University when he led members of the recently inaugurated 14th Governing Council of the institution to an interactive session with the members of the University’s Senate. To CT
He tasked the Senate members to encourage diligence among the students, adding: ”hard work does not kill and that offenders will unfailingly be punished.”
The retired DIG thanked President Tinubu for their appointment, assuring that ”the 14th Governing Council is on a mission to lift up the good name of the institution and will do everything humanly possible to achieve that.”
He pledged on behalf of his colleagues to improve the University’s rating, reach, and standing in the community of varsities.
Earlier, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof Florence Obi welcomed members of the Governing Council.
She described the initiative of interacting with the apex academic organ as thoughtful and instructive.
Prof Florence Obi in her remarks detailed the membership, and functions of the University Senate describing the current Senate members as efficient and productive to the growth of the institution.
Prof Obi remarked that the Senate under her leadership had produced the highest number of graduates since the inception of the University.
She described the Senate members as ‘:selfless, humane and considerate when they mobilized 650 students for the NYSC scheme even when they were on strike”.
She summed up her address in these words ” I have enjoyed the support of my colleagues”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science Education, Prof Alice Asim, the Provost of the College of Graduate Studies, Prof Eyong Eyong and the Head of the Department of Accounting, Dr Eme Efiong appealed to the Pro-chancellor and his team to address ‘quality’ when employing Staff, security concerns, increased funding and staff welfare.
