Ododo Donates N26mln To 1,326 Corps Members Deployed To Kogi

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has donated N20,000 to each of the 1, 326 corps members deployed to the state to ease their welfare.

 

The money, amounting to N26 million was shared out to the corps members on Tuesday during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch B, Stream One orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Asaya, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

 

The governor who was represented by his deputy, Elder Joel Oyibo said the gesture was to motivate the corps members so that they can impact positively on their places of primary assignment.

He added that any of them that excelled during the service year will be honoured and rewarded after their service.

 

The governor implored the corps members to be diligent, selfless and hardworking to enable them be rewarded at the end of their service year.

Ododo, also appealed to employers, communities and indeed the people of the state to warmly receive the corps members and make them feel at home.

 

He assured the corps members of government commitment to their safety and welfare package during and after their service year.

 

While declaring the 2024 Batch B Stream One Orientation Camp closed, the governor assured them of his administration’s commitment to upgrade facilities at the orientation camp.

 

Also speaking, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon Monday Anyebe, charged the corps members to avoid acts and places that can endanger their lives during their service year.

 

The Commissioner who is also the Chairman Governing Board of the NYSC in the state urged them to be security conscious and be vigilant at all times.

 

Anyebe stressed that they should avoid keeping late at night, appealing to employers and communities to assist by making necessary provisions for their welfare.

 

The State Coordinator of NYSC, Mr. Femi Osungbobun, advised the corps members to live by the knowledge they acquired in the camp in their various places of assignment.

 

He appreciated the state governor for his gesture of N26 million to the corps members, saying it will go a long way in assisting them to settle down.

 

Responding on behalf of the corps members, Miss Tosin Toluwaloye, expressed appreciation to Governor Ododo for his fatherly intervention, especially the welfare package given to them.

 

Toluwaloye , then prayed for God’s blessings and good health for the governor.
