the Chief Executive of Dangote Group, says the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) does not own 20% stake in Dangote Refinery.
Dangote said this on Sunday in Lagos during a media tour of the refinery site.
He said the original plan was for NNPCL to own 20% stake in the refinery, but it defaulted in paying for the balance of their share which was due last month.
Dangote said that currently, the NNPCL owned only 7.2% stake in the refinery.
NNPC no longer owns 20 per cent stake in the Dangote refinery. They were meant to pay their balance in June, but have yet to fulfil the obligation. Now, they only own a 7.2 per cent stake in the refinery,” he said.
The NNPCL has maintained that it had 20% stake in the Dangote Refinery.
Mele Kyari, the NNPCL Group Managing Director, had always said his company owned 20% stake in the refinery which it held on behalf of the federal government. (GBN)
