Fed Poly, Ede, Cautions Against Generalisation of Alleged Arrest of its Students by EFCC

Ede (Osun state) (Flowerbudnews): Authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede has cautioned against hasty labelling of persons arrested by EFCC operatives in Ede area as students of the institution.

The Polytechnic said in a statement on Thursday in Ede that though, the report alleging arrest of its students by EFCC had gone viral on the social media, the Institution had not been contacted by the EFCC.

Mr. Sola Lawal, the Polytechnic’s Protocol, Media and Public Relations Officer who signed the statement said that the institution was ”yet to receive any correspondence from the EFCC to either confirm or deny the said arrest and the involvement of our students.”

Lawal stated that the said raid was carried out at Owode-Ede and the Institution was yet to ”ascertain the identities of those alleged to have been apprehended by the security agency.”

The Polytechnic ‘s Spokesman assured that the public would kept informed of further development in the incident. (Flowerbudnews)

ARREST OF EDE POLY STUDENTS AND THE NEED TO AVOID FALLACY OF HASTY GENERALISATION

The attention of the Management of Federal Polytechnic, Ede, Osun State has been drawn to a purported arrest of students of the institution by operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) which has gone viral on social media platforms.

It is , therefore, imperative to intimate the general public that the said raid was carried out at Owode-Ede and we are yet to ascertain the identities of those alleged to have been apprehended by the security agency.

Also, we are yet to receive any correspondence from the EFCC to either confirm or deny the said arrest and the involvement of our students.

To this end, we hereby urge the Polytechnic Community and the general public to remain calm as the management will appropriately keep them informed on further developments.
