Agbaragba Royal Family Member Distances Self From Alleged Agreement
By Adewale Owoade
The attention of Agbaragba-Olaribikusi ruling house of Eruwa has been drawn to a publication in online news, “Across NigeriaNews” of September 21st, 2025, written by one Khalid Imran.
This writer purported that a meeting was held on September 20th, 2025, at which representatives from the four ruling quarters; Omoni, Sabi, Ajao and Agbaragba affirmed the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nigeria that “explicitly recognised Princes Rashidi Oyedepo (Ajao Quarter), Lamidi Okunola (Omoni Quarter), and Abiodun Ojelade (Sabi Quarter), all from the Olaribikusi Ruling House, as the only candidates legally qualified to ascend the throne.”
The writer claimed further that a resolution was reached at the said meeting whereby a consensus candidate was selected for the throne of Eleruwa.
In a press release, the Head of Agbaragba-Olaribikusi ruling house, Prince Adeleke Adebayo, said that: “We, members of Agbaragba-Olaribikusi quarters did not attend any meeting where such claims as presented by this writer took place, and neither did our representatives sign up on any resolution on any consensus candidate for Eleruwa throne.
“We also want to states clearly that it is a blatant lie, the claim that Prince Matthew Olatayo from our ruling quarter signed any document in support of approval of claims made by this writer.
“We do not prevent anyone from pursuing his ambition in whatever way or manner such individual deems fit but we strongly warn against mischievous manipulations through the media or any other means to deceive the public in pursuance of such ambition.
“We therefore warn such individuals to desist from using the name of our revered ruling house for their selfish ambition.”
Prince Matthew Olatayo has dismissed claims circulating about his involvement in the signing of any agreement at a recent meeting concerning the Agbaragba royal family.
Speaking with journalists, Olatayo confirmed that he attended the meeting alongside four other members of the Agbaragba family, but insisted that no document was presented, let alone signed by anyone from their side.
He said: “Five of us went from the Agbaragba royal family. If you see any signature said to be mine or that of anyone from the Agbaragba family, it is a lie. Everything is open before God—there was no document.”
According to him, the Agbaragba family maintained their position at the meeting, insisting on the resolutions and documented decisions reached during a previous gathering.
“I have even called Prince Rashidi Oyedepo and warned him to stop tarnishing my name,” Olatayo added.
