Amid implementation of N250 billion infrastructure plan by Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, Ilesa community has said the drive is modernising their local government areas and tackling thuggery.

The community noted that the drive is boosting agricultural productivity and providing employment opportunities for youths in the councils.

Speaking during a public assessment, a traditional ruler in Ibokun Local Government Area of the Stat4, the Oyebon of Ibotoro, Oba Samson Aderibigbe, described Governor Adeleke as a dependable son of the soil who has brought long-awaited progress to their land.

His words, “Road construction never existed here before. Since he came to power, look at how good this community is.

“He started the construction from Ibotoro to Ada to Agba to Ororuwo. There is no part of Ibokun Local Government where his projects have not been noticed. He has made us comfortable in Osun.”

Similarly, a resident of Ilesa, Ibrahim Olawale said the government’s investments in roads and public infrastructure have directly curbed youth restlessness and reduced accidents in previously unsafe junctions.

He emphasized that the projects have not only improved mobility and safety but also significantly reduced thuggery and boosted agricultural productivity.

He said, “In terms of infrastructural facilities, it’s very good. It has brought a lot of development to the masses. Before now, we used to see thugs along the road, but the government has engaged many of them. We call them ‘old tramps, they help keep pedestrians safe. This has reduced thuggery and even accidents. Akewusola Junction used to record frequent crashes, but since the road was expanded and street lights installed, such incidents have stopped.”

Also, a commodity trader from Ogbon Titun Okesa, Ilesa, Akinola Bolanle, shared similar sentiments, noting that many unemployed youths in the area have now found meaningful work.

“Before, we had a lot of thugs in this environment, but now they have reduced,” she said. “This road has helped us greatly. I even bought my shop when construction started, and because the area is now more open and organized, sales have improved.”

A farmer from Oke Oye Street, Ibokun. Mr. Gbadebo, also applauded Adeleke’s leadership, noting that the newly completed road has transformed their daily lives.

“His works are in our favour. Even if he wants to go for a third term, I’m pleased with it. This road was done for us when no one believed it would happen. We want more help with farming supplements to make life easier. He gave us fertilizers before, and we get them at the King’s Palace”
