The Vice‑Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Prof. Florence Obi, has commended the University Librarian, Prof. Aniebiet Ntui, and her staff for their innovative ideas in library development.
The commendation was made during her valedictory visit to the University Library, a statement by the Public Relations Unit of the
University disclosed.
Prof. Obi praised the librarian and staff for their dedication to the development of the university’s libraries, noting that their professional contributions to electronic library services across all UNICAL faculties were instrumental in the success of the recent National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation of various academic programmes.
She acknowledged the challenges faced by the library staff, describing the current dilapidated state of the UNICAL library building as unfortunate.
Prof. Obi assured the staff that the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has approved funds for the rehabilitation of the Library, with implementation to begin soon.
Earlier, Prof. Aniebiet Ntui welcomed the Vice‑Chancellor to the library and thanked her for efforts that enabled library staff to return to the library block.
