The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) says it has deployed hundreds of personnel to worship centres, recreation spots and all public areas in Enugu State ahead of the Eld-el-Kabir celebration.

The Commandant of NSCDC Enugu State Command, Dr Elijah Willie, in a statement on Thursday in Enugu, said that the Command had deployed hundreds of personnel both in uniform and in plain clothes to ensure a safe and hitch-free celebration.

According to Willie, this proactive measure is part of our commitment to safeguarding lives, critical infrastructure, and maintaining public order throughout the Eld-el-Kabir holiday season.

“On behalf of the NSCDC Enugu State Command, I bring you warm Sallah greetings as we prepare to join our Muslim brothers and sisters in celebrating Eid-el-Kabir.

“This sacred season is one of deep spiritual reflection and sacrifice.

“It teaches us the values of obedience, faith, compassion, and service to humanity — values that are vital to building stronger families, communities, and society at large,” he said.

The Commandant also urged Nigerians to celebrate responsibly, and share love and happiness with others, while being security conscious at all time.

“As you gear up to mark this celebration with joy and thanksgiving, I urge everyone to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and considerate of one another.

“We encourage all residents to cooperate fully with security personnel and to report any suspicious activities promptly.

“Let us continue to uphold peace, love, and unity in our neighborhoods.

“May this Sallah bring peace, progress, and renewed hope to every home and to our beloved Enugu State and nation, Nigeria,” he said.
