Prof. Adeyeye Directs Launching of NAFDAC Consumer Safety Club in Schools Nationwide to Curb Drug Abuse Among Youths

Awka (FLOWERBUDNEWS): NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye has directed NAFDAC state offices to launch Consumer Safety Club in Schools Nationwide to Curb Drug Abuse Among Youths.

Prof. Adeyeye noted that intensification of the Agency’s enlightenment and sensitisation efforts at school level would orient youths and adolescents to resist the temptation of drug abuse and embrace positive values for a healthier future.

The NAFDAC Boss gave the charge during the inauguration of the NAFDAC Consumer Safety Club (NCSC) at Community Secondary School, Okpuno, Awka in Anambra state.

that NCSC was part of NAFDAC’s strategy to combat drug abuse and fake products by educating and empowering young students.

She urged students to serve as agents of change by sharing accurate information about NAFDAC’s regulatory activities and promoting healthy living.

”Our mission is to mould a future generation empowered to be upright and demand uprightness from others,” She declared.

The NAFDAC DG added that the re-establishment of NCSC in secondary schools ”is expected to foster collaboration between teachers and students to “Catch Them Young” and prevent lives of addiction.”

Prof. Adeyeye highlighted the dangers of drug abuse, warning that its impact, included drug dependence, poor judgment, and mental health disorders.

She also noted that millions of Nigerians suffer from drug abuse, making it to become a growing public health concern. (FLOWERBUDNEWS)
