Social commentator Isaac Fayose says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot take over Oyo and Osun states as it has done in other states in the south during recent off-cycle elections.
His comment to the APC comes after the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Umah Ganduje, stated that Osun and Oyo states are targets for his party to win in their respective governorship elections, following the victory of Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the incumbent governor and APC candidate in the Ondo elections.
“Our next target now is this geo-political zone, the southwest geo-political zone. You know we are good at hitting the target,” he said, flanked by Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno and Hope Uzodimma of Imo, among others.
“We will do everything possible to bring them into the fold.”
Reacting to his comments in a post on Instagram, Fayose said both southwest states will be a tough challenge for the APC as they are under the leadership of governors who are respected by residents.
“Ganduje, the APC chairman, said APC will take Osun and Oyo. I challenge you, you can’t take those two states because the governors there are intelligent.
”Even Tinubu supported you guys to win Oyo State. Seyi Makinde is the only Governor in Nigeria whose election was not contested because he is so genuine,” Fayose said.
