Mararaba (Nasarawa State) FLOWERBUDNEWS: An unknown thief on Sunday afternoon threw a mosque in Mararaba town near Abuja into an uproar when a wall fan which was used during afternoon prayer was discovered stolen less than three hours later just before evening prayer.

The incident was discovered by one Mallam Yahaya Ibrahim who noticed, at the time of (Asr) prayer that the fan had been stolen.

Mal. Ibrahim informed the congregation that during morrning and afternoon prayers,  the fan was there, but was ”now no where to be found.’

The Imam of the mosque, Mallam Ahmad Tijani told FLOWERBUDNEWS that some months back at the same mosque, a water containerl of about 120 litres capacity, which now cost about N45,000, was also stolen.

Mallam Tijani, appealed to congregation to always be vigilant, stressing that the security of mosque and its property should be of concern to everybody.

He emphasised the need to provide adequate security for the solar power equipment installed in the mosque, warning that if necessary action was not taken to provide proper security, it could also be stolen too.

The Imam warned that the mosque may not be able to buy another solar if it was allowed to be stolen, saying ”it now cost over N1 million naira”.

A Correspondent of FLOWERBUDNEWS who witnessed the incident reports that the area around the mosque was full of young boys aged between 15 to 20 who are supposed to be in school, but prefered to look for short-cut of making easy money, thereby pushing them to take anything available that give them quick money.
