Flowerbudnews: The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) says over 1,000 households were affected by the recent widespread flooding that ravaged several communities in Taraba state.
NEMA disclosed that the communities impacted by the heavy downpour in Yorro LGA of Taraba State, included Dandikulum, Boli, Yuzaity, Pupule, Manzalan, Danza, Papenzan, Pantisawa and Dila.
Other affected communities were Gada, Lashake, Kassa, and Dankum, NEMA disclosed in a statement on its official X handle monitored by Flowerbudnews.
Mr. Sadiq Abubakar Nuhu, A.C.O Admin, led a joint team comprising NEMA, TSEMA, the Yorro LGA Disaster Desk Officer, and community leaders from the affected areas on the assessment tour.
The team conducted the assessment to determine the extent of the damage caused by the flood.
It also visited the Chief of Kwaji Chiefdom, HRH Alhaji Umar Buba Nyala, who briefed the tram on the dual challenges faced by his Chiefdom: the ongoing threat of kidnapping and sudden influx of internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Alh. Buba Nyala said that nearly every household in the community was now hosting IDPs and expressed gratitude to the agency for visiting during the critical time.
NEMA said however, that Access to some communities was hindered due to insecurity and inadequate road infrastructure. (Flowerbudnews)
