Kaduna (Flowerbudnews): NAFDAC Decentralisation of registration of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSME) has become a major incentive aiding growth of small scale businesses at the grassroot level in the country.

NAFDAC North West Zonal Director, Mrs. Josephine Dayilim, made the declaration when she received a delegation of the Global Integrity Apostolate Fellowship Network, Kaduna, led by its leader, Bishop Joseph J. Yari who came on a courtesy visit.

Mrs. Dayilim noted that decentralisation of registration to the zones for MSME and water renewal (sachet and bottle) and digitalisation of registration process by NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye had brought operations of NAFDAC to the grassroots to the benefits of the small businesses

The Zonal Director said that other recent remarkable achievements and transformation in NAFDAC operations under Prof. Adeyeye included institutionalization of QMS and international best practices.

She told the visiting religious leaders that the Agency had also achieved
ISO certification and WHO pre-qualification of NAFDAC laboratories, which she noted, had brought international recognition and honour to Nigeria and herhealth sector, in particular.

Mrs. Dayilim also spoke on sustained
Surveillance activities and mop up of Counterfeit, Falsified, spurious and expired regulated products efforts of the NAFDAC in the Zone.

The Zonal Director said that Prof. Adeyeye had already directed intensification and sustenance of the current NAFDAC heat on unwholesome products to ensure that only safe and genuine regulated products were in circulation and used by the general public.

”We will sustain the fight against fake, falsified, Spurious , adulterated, expired and substandard Drugs, Food and other substandard regulated products in Kaduna State and the country at large,” the Zonal Director assured.

Mrs Dayilim said that other recent achievements of NAFDAC included the implementation of Good Distribution and storage practices (GSDP)/ Traceability ( track and trace) to ensure the availability of genuine drugs from the manufacturer to the end user,

She said that Prof. Adeyeye had also made the Agency’s e-platforms functional, effective and efficient with the introduction of facilities for reporting Adverse Drugs Reaction online on NAFDAC Website and through the MedSafety App,

Others included use of Mobile Authentication Service (MAS) and PRASCOR to detect fake and counterfeit regulated products, responsible and safe use of pesticides and Agrochemicals, she stated.

”Our DG was very particular about this as a measure to help end or avoid rejection of our agricultural produce in the E.U countries during export due to pesticides residue levels that could be above Maximum limits,” Mrs Dayilim emphasized.

The Zonal Director urged youths to shun alcohol and drugs abuse ”because of the dangerous consequences and damage it does to their vital body organs like the liver (hepatitis), mental disease and other socio-economic problems which could make them fall into the hands of law enforcement agencies etc.”

She emphasized the need for the spiritual fathers to talk to their congregation on the Agencies areas of concern and particularly the abuse of alcohol and other dangerous practices.

The NAFDAC Zonal Director said the Agency’s ”doors are always open as the Agency is always willing to sensitize the public about its activities and how they can also get their products registered.’.

She further informed them about NAFDAC’s publicity and enlightenment programmes on the media (print and electronic,). She gave them names of Radio and TV stations and times when ‘NAFDAC’s your health’ programmes where aired.

The State Coordinator/Deputy Director, Mr Nasiru Mato also explained details of NAFDAC’S e-registration process and the registration of MSMEs products at the zones to the visitors.

The leader of the visiting spiritual fathers, Bishop J. Yari requested visitation to churches and mosques by NAFDAC Officiala to sensitize them on NAFDAC activities starting with churches of the members of the various denominations where they are pastoring.
