Prof. Adedoja condoles with Afonja family and Oyo people

Former Minister of Sports and Special Duties, Prof. Taoheed Adedoja, has expressed his deep sympathy over the death of Prince Ajibola Afonja, a very illustrious son of Oyo.

Afonja whose death was announced by the family, died on Sunday night, at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State, at the age of 82.

Prof. Adedoja described Prince Afonja, a former Minister of Labour under the interim government of Earnest Shonekan and also former Chairman, Board of Directors of First Bank of Nigeria plc, as a true community leader and a compassionate person.

He recalled his relationship with the industrialist when he was Provost of the Federal College of Education, Special, Oyo from 1996 to 2002.

“The major concern of Prince Afonja was the development of Oyo and its environs and particularly the welfare and progress of indigenes of Oyo Alaafin, and he would not hide it.

“I personally will miss him, and I pray for the forgiveness of his sins.”

Prof. Adedoja has conveyed his condolence message to the family of the late Prince Ajibola Afonja.
