NYSC urges corps members to integrate knowledge learnt during orientation course

The National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) Coordinator, in Enugu State, Mrs Christiana Salmwang has urged corps members to integrate the knowledge they have acquired during their orientation course and put them into practice.

Salmwang gave the advice during the official closing ceremony of the three weeks Orientation Course for the 1,503 Corps Members registered for the service year at the Permanent Orientation Camp, Awgu near Enugu on Wednesday

She called on the corps members to sustain the spirit of resilience, patriotism and hard work exhibited during the course of the orientation.

She emphasised the importance of identifying areas of need within host communities and encouraged the corps members to contribute by filling those needs, as it brings goodwill and honor.

The coordinator urged the corps members to continue with their Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) classes and to strictly adhere to all instructions from the NYSC scheme.

Emphasising the Director-General’s keen interest in proper dressing and welfare of corps members, she stressed also on the importance of dressing properly, especially when visiting Local Government Areas (LGAs),

Ensuring the safety of corps members, the state coordinator said she had set up machinery to monitor all the vehicles conveying the corps members to their various destinations.

According to her, the plate number, names of all corps members in each vehicle, drivers’ phone numbers and destinations were written on the manifest prepared by her.

“The phone numbers of the state coordinator and the camp commandant were given to the corps members to call, when the need arises.

“To ensure that those travelling far have security, a detachment of military personnel will be escorting the vehicles of those travelling to the borders of Enugu and the contiguous states,” she said.

The closing ceremony witnessed a colourful parade by the corps members as the course ended on a positive note. (Flowerbudnews)
