The Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
The announcement was made following a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba, the state capital, on Wednesday.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, who confirmed the development, said the decision was reached after “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development”.
Oborevwori was victorious in the 2023 gubernatorial election under the PDP platform. He was received by senior APC officials.
