Princess Ugwu Flags-Off 2027 Re-Election Campaign, Pledges Issue-Based, People-Centred Engagement
Hon. Princess Obiajulu Ugwu, Deputy Chief Whip of the Enugu State House of Assembly and Member representing Enugu South Rural Constituency, has officially flagged-off her campaign for re-election in the 2027 General Elections.
The move is line with the timetable of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Speaking at the campaign flag-off in Enugu, Princess Ugwu expressed particular delight at the deliberate efforts of the administration of Gov. Peter Mbah to change the narrative of governance in Enugu State.
She described the Mbah’s administration trajectory as “one that deserves to be communicated to citizens with facts and clarity.”

She noted that the 2027 campaign season had commenced with an unprecedented level of structure and coordination, beginning with a Candidates’ Summit hosted by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Victor Udeh.
According to her, the summit provided candidates with practical guidance on conducting structured, issue-based campaigns; thus, maintaining unity and ensuring a coordinated approach towards victory for all the party’s flag bearers.
She said, “We are beginning this campaign differently.
“We are beginning with structure, with issues, with unity and with a clear understanding that the people deserve to know what has been achieved, what remains to be done and where we are going.
“As part of the flag-off activities, citizens have been presented with a compendium highlighting the achievements of the Mbah administration in its first three-plus years in office.”

Princess Ugwu said the compendium is intended to equip citizens with verifiable facts as the state enters the 2027 electoral season.
She further stated that while she would continue to highlight and build on the trajectory of the governor’s administration, her campaign would also focus substantially on her own legislative record, constituency interventions and vision for the people she represents.
The lawmaker disclosed that the next phase of her campaign would begin with the formal inauguration of her campaign team, followed by detailed political and community mapping.
“The campaign will thereafter move into the communities, where I intend to engage directly with residents through one-on-one interactions, community consultations, constituency tours and rallies ahead of the election.
“For me, politics must ultimately return to the people. We will go into our communities, listen to our people, engage them directly and communicate our vision and achievements.
“We will not assume that people know what has been done; we will take the message to them,” he said.

She acknowledged that the journey towards the 2027 General Elections might come with challenges but expressed confidence in the preparedness and resilience of her team.
“We envisage challenges, but we are prepared. We have the experience, the structure and, most importantly, the people. By God’s grace, we will surmount every challenge and secure victory again in 2027,” she said.
Ugwu reaffirmed her commitment to a campaign founded on issues, engagement, unity, service and accountability, while calling on supporters and constituents to participate actively in the democratic process.
She expressed optimism that the campaign would provide an opportunity for meaningful conversations about governance, development and the future of Enugu State, while strengthening the bond between elected representatives and the people.
“My journey to 2027 re-election has officially started,” she said.
