Abuja (Flowerbudnews): The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has announced the immediate suspension of the two-week old strike action embarked upon by staffers of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
FLOWERBUDNEWS reports that the Union also directed the NAFDAC workers to resume work nationwide on Monday, October 21, ”without fail”.
The directive was contained in letter of notification to all the workers signed by the Union’s Secretary, Comrade Ejor Michael and titled ‘Suspension of Indefinite Nationwide Strike and Resumption of Duties”, a copy of which was made available to FLOWERBUDNEWS.
”Following the recent industrial action, this letter serves to formally announce the immediate suspension of the two-week old indefinite nationwide strike embarked upon by members of staff of NAFDAC and members of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC),” Comrade Michael wrote.
”The suspension follows the meeting held on 19th October 2024, where an agreement was reached between NAFDAC Management, the SSASCGOC National Secretariat, and the SSASCGOC NAFDAC Branch Executives,” the Labour Leader stated.
Urging the workers to resume work promptly nationwide, Comrade Michael wrote further; ”Please,be informed that work resumes on Monday, 21 October 2024, nationwide.
”All members of staff are expected to report to their respective duty posts without fail.
”A congress meeting comes up on Wednesday, 23rd October, 2024 at NAFDAC Corporate Headquarters, Abuja to extensively brief members on the agreement reached,” he said.
”It is essential to emphasize that the agreement represents a significant step towards improving working conditions and fostering a more harmonious working relationship between all stakeholders,” Comrade Michael stated.
He commended the workers saying, ”your dedication and commitment to your duties, as well as your professionalism during this challenging period, are greatly appreciated.”
Comrade Michael added; ”We count on your full cooperation to ensure a smooth return to normalcy and the continued success of NAFDAC’s mission to safeguard public health.”
”Thank you for your continued solidarity! We look forward to your prompt return to work,” the Labour leader concluded.
