Ede (Osun) Flowerbudnews): The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has urged Youth Corpers serving in Osun to support the Agency’s efforts to safeguard public health by combating unwholesome products.

Osun state NAFDAC Coordinator, Dr Isaac Kolawole made the appeal on Thursday in Ede at the NYSC permanent orientation camp while sensitizing Youth Corpers currently in camp, on the functions and mandate of NAFDAC to the nations and Nigerians.
Dr Kolawole who was represented by a NAFDAC Officer, Mr Abbas Majin Salihu urged the corpers to see themselves as ambassadors of NAFDAC by sustaining public enlightenment on dangers of unwholesome products and NAFDAC fight against adulterated and fake products.
He said: “As corps members, I will encourage you to take up the advocacy and fight against counterfeit products at your places of primary assignments especially in the rural areas across the state.”

Dr. Kolawole also enjoined the Youth Corpers to embrace self-employment as against seeking white collar jobs which may not be readily available.
He assured them that NAFDAC Director General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye was committed to helping Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises grow by giving them all necessary support, including easing of registration processes..

The NAFDAC State Coordinator disclosed that DG, Prof Adeyeye had decentralized registration MSMEs to Zones to bring the process closer to the people at the grassroot level..
Dr. Kolawole urged them to register their products with NAFDAC, noting that this would enable the corps members become self-employed by packaging their products with the agency branded number.
This according to him, registration with NAFDAC would make it easier for them to market their products as they wish without any fear of apprehension by law enforcement agency.
He encouraged them to start with small products like NYSC’s Chin chin; Yam flower, campus garri among others to be branded with NAFDAC number and packaged neatly to attract customers. (Flowerbudnews)
